A young man was beaten mercilessly by a mob after he was spotted wearing a cloth allegedly stolen from a boutique at Ikot Ekpene road in Umuahia, Abia State today. According to reports, the suspect was seen by the owner of the boutique - wearing one of the clothes allegedly looted from the store.

When quizzed by his captors, the young man said he didn't steal the cloth and that it was given to him by one of his friends.

He was tied up and beaten by the residents before he was handed over to security operatives - not after the said cloth was stripped off him.

What if he bought from the person that stole it unknowingly?

What a country. Primitive way of thinking, does that mean that the clothe was custom made for the boutique or he couldn't have gotten it from some place else. what if he bought it from another boutique which orchestrated the looting of the said boutique, or was saying the truth that he was given by a friend. A lot of what ifs. Someone was even pouring a liquid on him, to roast him alive I guess. Seriously jungle justice should become a crime in this nation and carry death sentence, anything aside from self defence when it comes to apprehending an alleged thief or armrobber should be termed jungle justice.
