Earth Hour 2010 In Nigeria by dutchy313(m): 2:03am On Mar 16, 2010 |
Dear Nairalanders, Climate change is happening all around us and its pace is accelerating. From melting glaciers to increasingly intense weather patterns, climate change is already impacting life on Earth. In a bold statement of collective concern for our planet, millions of people around the world will turn off their lights for one hour—Earth Hour—on March 27, 2010 at 8:30 p.m. local time. Sponsored by World Wildlife Fund, Earth Hour is the largest event of its kind in the world. In 2009, nearly one billion people from 4,100 cities in 87 countries turned out their lights, as well as international landmarks including the Golden Gate Bridge, Empire State Building, Eiffel Tower and Great Pyramids, and the city skylines of Las Vegas, Hong Kong and Tel Aviv. Cloneshouse Nigeria is asking for your support to engage the citizens of Nigeria by signing up to participate in Earth Hour 2010. Participation is free and easy. By agreeing to turn off non-essential lighting controlled by Nigeria, such as city hall or town offices, we will join cities, states, individuals and government leaders across the country and around the world in calling for action to save our planet for future generations. Earth Hour reminds us that by working together, we all have a role to play in solving one of the most critical issues of our time. Earth Hour also provides an excellent forum for citizens to hold meaningful conversations about the ways in which all of us can act to be part of the solution. Visit www.EarthHour.org for additional information and to see what’s happening in our community. We care about our community and our community cares about the environment. Cloneshouse Nigeria hopes that Nairalanders and Nigeria will choose to participate and help send a powerful message to the world that everyone has responsibility, everyone has power, everyone can lead. We look forward to your response. Sincerely, Babayemi Oludotun Project Coordinator, Earth Hour 2010 in Nigeria Cloneshouse Nigeria greenback@cloneshouse.com www.cloneshouse.com/greenback.html +234-802-846-2023
