Mana mana "Mọnamọna" is a breed of Snake, usually shy and reclusive. Hence, hardly go out to source for food.

The tortoise taunts a hungry snake, as though the snake cannot eat the tortoise, however, both are edible meat for the hunter

2) Orisa je kin pe meji Obirin ko denu.

3) Eniti eegun nlepa ko roju , bi o ti n re eniyan beni o n re araorun
Do not falter if you are being chased as one is getting tired so is the one chasing you

4) Ero ona ni royin oka to gbo
Passers-by are the first to bring the news that the corn is ripe

5) Eyin to ta yo,wahala enu ni.
A protruded tooth is a problem to the mouth

6) Ikun nje ogede ikun re di, ikun o ma pe ohun todun ni npa ni
The rodent is exuberant as it feeds on banana, it should have known though that eating sweet foods can be deadly

7) Ebi o ki wo nu koro mi wo be
A hungry person is not a good listener. Perhaps a blatant interpretation is "A hungry person is an angry person"

Virtually everything gets exposed in the long run as gossips spread news/rumours

9) Asa nba eyele sere eye nyo, eyele n fi iku sere
The hawk is having a deceitful play with the pigeon, the pigeon is rejoicing, it does not know it is toying with death

One's daughter would not possess a gorgeous waist while one adorns another person's daughter with a waist bead

11) Ologbo to n sun bi ole, ohun to ma je lo nwa
A cat that sleeps around like a lazy one, merely does so in anticipation of what to eat.

12) Ti ori kan ba sunwon a ran'gba.
If one head is blessed, it positively impacts two hundred others

13) Bo pe bo ya, ogun odun nbò wa k'ola.
Eventually, twenty years time will become a day away.

14) Agboju logun fi ara re fun osi ta.
Whoever hopes on inheritance exposes himself to poverty

15) Orisa bo o le gbemi, se mi bo se bami
one's situation should at lea st remain the same not to become worse after seeking the help of a deity

16) Bi agbon se loro to ounje ni fun alangba/
Despite how venomous the wasp is, it is food for the lizard.

One can cope with a bad wife but having bad in-laws isn't advisable

Whoever wants to fly, must first run.

19) Oromadiye o m'asa, iya e lomo awodi
The chick is not aware of the danger posed by the hawk, but the mother hen does understand the capabilities of the eagle

Snakes move freely at night, it is the mouse that tread cautiously.
