The professor and his students.

A certain professor who teaches philosophy in a university stood before his students on a beautiful day. He had some items with him which placed on the table.

When the class started, he picked up one of the items on the table which happened to be a rather large and empty jam jar. Calmly without saying anything, he went ahead to fill the jar with rocks, small rocks about 0.0508 Meters in diameter.

“Is this jar full?” He asked his students when he finally spoke.
“Yes, it is”, they chorused.

A box of pebbles was part of the items, he picked it up and poured the pebbles into the jam jar. With a light force, he should the jar. It is expected of the pebbles to roll into the open areas between the rocks and of course, they did.

“Is this jar full?” He asked his students the second time.
“Yes, it is”. They agreed.

The professor then picked up a jar of sand and poured the contents into the same jar. The sand did as the pebbles, they filled up the open areas of the jar.

“Is this jar full?” He asked his students once more.
Their answers did not change as they responded with the same YES.

What each items represent.

The rocks: These are the important things in your life. They are Your family, your spouse, your health , genuine friends , kids if you have any. They are things that if you lost everything else, with them still there with you , your life would still be full.

The pebbles: Oh, they are things that
matter. They are important and needed in life. They are your career, your job, your business, your material things cars, houses etc.

The sand: These are everything else that make up your life. The small stuff, if you can them that.

If he had poured the sand into the jam jar first , there wouldn’t be any room left for the rocks or the pebbles .

This logic applies to your life. If you spend all your valuable time and conserved energy on the sand , the small stuff, you will never have room for things that are really important to you the Rocks.


–Pay rapt attention to things that are very critical to your joy, happiness and being. Things that bring joy to your life .
–Play with your children . Check their school works. Clean the house together on cleaning days. Be fully involved in their lives.
–Take your spouse out on a date. Go to the cinemas with your lover . Go for shopping together.
–Organize dinner date with your friends.
Catch up on old times .
–Go for medical checkups . If you were
placed on medication for 7 days, complete your dosage.
–Exercise regularly. Sleep well
