MTN Nigeria Reports 11.2% Rise In Revenue As Subscriber Drops by Nobody: 12:23pm On Oct 31, 2017
Nigeria’s largest mobile carrier, MTN with over 50 million subscribers said it is total revenue for Nigeria in Q3 rose by 11.2% supported by data revenue growth of 72.1%. MTN Group president and chief executive officer Rob Shuter said the key growth drivers of data and digital services performed well.

The South Africa-based MTN Group also noted that the Q3 revenue was  “largely driven by lower reported subscribers in Nigeria as we continue to refine our active subscriber definitions as well as the disconnection of approximately 750 000 subscribers in Uganda as a result of regulatory SIM registration requirements”. However, the group’s total subscribers fell to 230.2 million with Nigeria’s company’s subscriber base falling to 50.3 million, which represents a 5.2% quarter on a quarterly decline.

The telecoms landscape have been experiencing a turbulent business operating environment with the decline in voice revenue due to increased offerings of internet-enabled multimedia (voice,  images, and video calls) mobile applications such as WhatsApp and BBM Messenger.

MTN has not also given an update on its proposed listing on the Nigeria Stock Exchange, NSE yet.

Who cares. A company full of selfish management teams that uses contract staffs as slaves for several years without conversion to permanent status. MTN is the only company in Nigeria where contracts staffs spend 10 -13 years as contracts without any hope of converting their contract staffs that have worked for them for very many years. They would rather keep a position supposed to be advertised for their siblings and relatives who are still in school, than to convert a contract staff to permanent status. An organisation that does not condemn the usual barbaric acts against Nigerians in his home country,South Africa. An organisation that would rather renew your subscribed service without informing u. A company comprised of selfish managements that chose to remove your credits and airtime without your permission; they knew they could seek permission, but decides to dubiously take away ones money. Thank to NCC. An organisation where the Top Executives(usually known as Execs)are always involved in one shady deal or the other at the expense of the company, and then advised to resign. A company full of selfish managements and board members that would decide to keep contract staffs on one spot for many years because of their huge stakes in the outsourcing firms who manage the welfare of the outsourced staffs. The management even decided to push away a Top Executive know for showing very much concern about contract staffs welfare. A selfish management teams that would buy cheap staff buses with hard seats that can break spines when u sit for long. Your time is up MTN! Your downfall has begun!

The mods have the mind to move this thread to the front page but all subscribers to 9mobile network were left without service for close to 72hours in enugu and a thread (https://www.nairaland.com/4148203/no-network-reception-9mobile-enugu)was created and they were unable to push it to front page.

Now service has been restored and everything back to normal as if nothing ever happen.....not even an apology sms from 9mobile and why will they? Afterall the world never knew of their perfomance blunder

I shake my head...injustice everywhere...if its snake this or bobrisky that, lalasticlala wont hesitate to move it to front page....so so annoying.

They've been scamming Nigerians since inception, why won't they have a rise in revenue even though subscribers dropped?.

They employ Nigerians.

Their presence in Nigeria spurned a new wave of possibilities for Nigerians from different socio-economic and vocational backgrounds.

Should the company die, you would be amongst those who would blame the president.
