There're some people who hold the unfortunate review that children grow up whether parents look after them or not. Yes they do; but what type of adults do such children become? They're the menace to the society, nuisance to their community, and shame to their negligent parents. They're the likes of drug addicts, prostitutes, vandals, street boys, robbers, and so on.

And yet once a child is born, his soul lives forever either in hell or in heaven. Therefore christian parents have an awesome responsibility hanging on them for the proper upbringing of their children. The Lord won't spare any parent who is negligent, lazy or flippant about this. The fear of God in your heart must compel you to be alive to your duty of helping your children make heaven at last.

But parents who want their children to be like a cornerstone, polished after the similitude of a palace; must be able, available, and active. Their children's life becomes intrinsically woven up in theirs. It happens when they nurture and take good care of them, showing them love and affection, feeding them with balanced diet, bathing and clothing them appropriately, and attending to all their needs.

They labour assiduously to ensure an all-round development of the children and as the children grow older, the mother assumes the role of not just a nurse but also a teacher, counselor, and guide. She teaches the child the virtues of love, respect for others, temperance, orderliness, self-control, and self denial. She diligently watches out for when the child is ready to be given responsibility appropriate to his age and she does so through constantly monitoring, supervising, and correcting him when necessary.
