By Jude Chinedu & Patrick Egwu, Enugu The People’s Democratic Party, says it is poised to relaunch its supremacy in the 2019 general elections beginning with the takeover of the governorship of Anambra State through the Nov. 18 gubernatorial election in the state. Governor Ayodele Fayose of Ekiti State made the declarations in Enugu after a stakeholders’ meeting ahead of the Anambra election and the December 9 national convention to elect the party’s national chairman. Fayose said that the PDP believed that Nigeria was ripe to conduct a free and fair election and that the party would retake power at the centre come 2019. Expressing optimism that PDP would be the party to beat in the election, the governor said that the participants at the meeting agreed to work with whoever emerged the national chairman to ensure that the party come victorious in subsequent elections. The meeting was attended by the 11 PDP governors, former governors as well as National Assembly members. The chairmanship aspirants who participated in the meeting that lasted late into the night were Dr. Raymond Dokpesi, former Governor Gbenga Daniel of Ogun State, former Governor Rasheed Adedoja of Oyo State, Timi Agbaje, Chief Bode George and Uche Secondus. Other former governors that attended the meeting were Sule Lamido of Jigawa State, Gabriel Suswam of Benue State and Senator Godswill Akpabio of Akwa Ibom State.
