Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome (PCOS) is a hormonal problem that affects women of childbearing age (from ages 15 to 44). According to statistics, around 2.2 and 26.7 percent of women within this age group have PCOS

PCOS affects woman’s ovaries, the women reproductive organs that help produce estrogen and progesterone. These hormones regulate the menstrual cycle. The ovaries also produce a small amount of male hormones called androgens.

Polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) is one of the condition that affects woman’s hormone levels.

Women that has PCOS always produce much amounts of male hormones higher than normal which causes hormonal imbalance. The hormonal imbalance causes fluctuation in their menstrual periods and makes it harder for them to conceive.

PCOS is a “syndrome,” that affects the ovaries and ovulation. Its three common features are:

cyst in both ovaries
high levels of male hormones(androgens)
irregular or skipped periods

PCOS can also contribute to long-term health problems such as diabetes and heart disease.
