Similarities Between Igbo Age Grade Tradition and Jewish Bar Mitzvah. Igbo Age Grade is the launching of a child into adulthood, when he or she is constrained to obey the laws of a land. Children coming of age are grouped by their age groups and are identified with their age group members, and according to gender. Same tradition is also carried out by Jews called Bar Mitzvah (Male) and Bat Mitzvah( Female). Other Biafran clans also have this tradition, especially Ibibio, Efik and Ijaw. Though it's a very serious tradition in Igboland.
