Washington (CNN)Special counsel Robert Mueller has charged former Trump national security adviser Michael Flynn with "willfully and knowingly" making "false, fictitious and fraudulent statements" to the FBI regarding conversations with Russia's ambassador.

He is due to appear in court later Friday morning, a court spokesperson said. The White House declined to immediately comment.
Flynn is the first Trump administration official and the fourth connected to the campaign to be charged as part of Mueller's investigation into possible collusion between the Russian government and members of Trump's team, as well as potential obstruction of justice and financial crimes.

Trump's former campaign chairman Paul Manafort and his deputy Rick Gates were indicted last month; they pleaded not guilty. And Trump campaign foreign policy adviser George Papadopoulos pleaded guilty for making a false statement to the FBI over contacts with officials connected to the Russian government.
The charge against Flynn is the first in Mueller's probe that has reached someone in the Trump White House and is the latest sign that the special counsel's investigation is intensifying.
Flynn's lawyers have previously criticized media reports about his connection to the Russia investigation as peddling "unfounded allegations, outrageous claims of treason, and vicious innuendo directed against him." Flynn hasn't spoken publicly since his ouster in February.
The charges mark yet another stunning downfall for Flynn, 58, a retired general who rose to the highest ranks of the Army over a three-decade career -- only to see him drummed out of the military by the Obama administration before unexpectedly rising again on the heels of Trump's election victory.

A key campaign surrogate and adviser during President Donald Trump's presidential campaign, Flynn was tapped as Trump's national security adviser in November 2016, a senior White House job that put him in a vital role for all of the administration's national security and foreign policy decisions.
Though he wasn't initially considered for the top job, Trump's daughter, Ivanka Trump, and son-in-law Jared Kushner made it clear to the Trump transition team that they wanted him there, CNN has reported.
Flynn would hold the job less than a month, resigning from the post after he misled Vice President Mike Pence and then-chief of staff Reince Priebus about his conversations with then-Russian Ambassador to the US Sergey Kislyak in which they discussed US sanctions against Russia.
Flynn is also the spark of potential trouble for the President in Mueller's probe, as the special counsel is investigating potential obstruction of justice in the firing of FBI Director James Comey.
Comey testified before the Senate intelligence committee that Trump asked him to drop the Flynn probe during a February Oval Office meeting not long after Flynn resigned as national security adviser.

This is a light charge because he has flipped someone up the ladder. Definitely the orange Cheetos is a roast.

Mueller reportedly subpoenas Deutsche Bank in Russia probe

This is not looking good for Donald Trump....

Robert Mueller, the special counsel investigating alleged Russian election meddling, reportedly subpoenaed Deutsche Bank several weeks ago, calling on the German bank to submit data pertaining to its client relationship with President Trump.

Bloomberg, citing an unnamed source, reported that Mueller is seeking information on the giant lender and its relationship with Trump and his family. Trump reportedly owes the bank $300 million.

Democrats have said Trump's relationship with the bank is crucial in the Russia investigation. The Washington Post reported in August that Democrats have pushed for an investigation into the bank’s internal review of the loans to see if there is any link with Russia.

Deutsche rejected demands by Democratic lawmakers back in June for details of Trump's finances, Reuters reported. The bank cited privacy laws.

The bank, Trump’s primary lender, also approved a $285 million refinancing loan for Trump’s son-in-law Jared Kushner’s company a month before the election, The Post reported.

Trump, who spoke to reporters Monday as he left the White House to head to Utah, unleashed a string of tweets over the weekend in which he criticized the FBI and raised questions about the federal investigation.

In one of his messages, Trump again denied that he directed the former FBI director James Comey to stop investigating his former national security adviser Michael Flynn.

This is going to be very problematic for Trump. But there is no getting around the fact that Deutsche Bank is at the center of Russian money laundering. Deutsche Bank was also deeply tied up with Robert Mercer. They helped devise dubious schemes to help Mercer's RenTec avoid paying up to $16 $6 billion in taxes. And it's also the only bank that would lend Trump money after his 4 bankruptcies. And its also the largest lender to Jared Kushner. The day before the US election, the bank lent Kushner $285 million, for a real estate deal involving Lev Leviev, a close friend of Putin's. So Deutsche Bank is a key player. So it's to be expected that if you were investigating Russian collusion with the President, you would go directly to the bank that forms the nexus between the guy bankrolling the Trump campaign and overseeing the data-analytics campaign (which potentially was the center of the collusion charges), the son-in-law and chief advisor of the President, the President himself and numerous corrupted Oligarchs close to Putin. Also, the former head of Deutsche Bank Josef Ackermann, who was in charge during the Russian money laundering phase (Deutsche Bank was fined $630 billion million for illegal activity), left the bank and then was offered a job by Wilbur Ross as Chairman of the Bank of Cyprus - and Cyprus of course is the financial center for Russian money laundering and it's where Paul Manafort had many shell companies registered. So this is bad bad news for Trump if Mueller is able to dig into these finances.

Flynn texted partners about nuclear plan during inauguration, whistleblower says

Congressional Democrats said Wednesday they have evidence from a confidential whistleblower that within minutes of President Donald Trump's inauguration, then-national security adviser Michael Flynn sent assurances to former business partners that a plan to build nuclear reactors across the Middle East was "good to go."

Democrats on the House Oversight Committee said in a letter dated Wednesday that the whistleblower reported attending an Inauguration Day event with Flynn's former business associate Alex Copson, the managing partner of ACU Strategic Partners.

The whistleblower said Copson gushed that Trump's inauguration was "the best day of my life" because it meant his company's effort to create a U.S.-Russia energy partnership in the Middle East, which reportedly would have included more than two dozen nuclear plants in the region, was moving forward. Copson said Flynn was making sure Obama-era sanctions, which he claimed threatened the nuclear project, would be "ripped up," according to the whistleblower.

And the whistleblower said Copson flipped his phone around to reveal a text message he said came from Flynn describing the nuclear reactor project as "good to go." According to the account, the whistleblower didn't see the substance of the text but recalled seeing a 12:11 p.m. time stamp. At that time, Flynn was on the dais during Trump's inaugural address.
