We dont appreciate the import of national forests, both at scientific amd social levels. If we did, the highway wpuld have easily bypassed it.
And why Katsina Ala?

The governor is a dummy surrounded by yes men. It the only reason a professor of environmental studies can mess up EIA 3 times for idiotic reasons. The road goes to Katsin Ala because the port is supposed to serve North central and East. Most people on this forum to lazy to into issue so the make up stupid conspiracy about foreigners or Lagos killing project.

There are demons in human form operating against the development of certain areas of Nigeria.

The moment Ayade started talking about his deep sea port and super highway, funny environmentalists home and away started raising their ugly heads. Then it died down. Then he released a massive budget yesterday and now this article surfaces. Who are these people?

The momemt Obaseki starts talking Gelegele seaport in Benin, a sudden crisis begins to rise between Ijaws and Binis.

Thats how Tinapa was effectively killed.

They killed ALSCON. Killed Ajaokuta. Killed DSC.

Who are these faceless peeps always seeking to work against certain critical components of development?

We need to research it deeply.

Even if one doesn't give a damn about environmental concerns (which many hungry, stupid Nigerians clearly don't, given how they regard all wild animals merely as potential "pepper soup" ), it ought to be highly disturbing that a major project like this should be executed without giving proper compensation to the owners and residents of all those places which will be demolished. This utter indifference to individual property rights is an even bigger obstacle to long-term development than any potential delays to the super-highway itself: who will want to bring their hard-earned money into a place which doesn't respect its own home-owning voters?

I understand that many people in Nigeria are impatient to see meaningful development, but simply swatting aside the property rights of those to be affected is not the way to go about it. Those who are happy to see such terrible precedents set in the name of "development" will have no leg to stand on if it's their turn tomorrow to have their houses and farmlands suddenly seized and paved over by their governors in the name of "development".

But come to think of it, Bakassi is not a Nigerian territory, so it would be out of place to contemplate construction of a deep seaport on territory that has been returned to Cameroon by the International Court of Justice (ICJ) in 2002, and is currently under the absolute administration of Cameroon. Encroaching on Bakassi could send Cross River State into perpetual poverty. Therefore it should be stated clearly that Bakassi is not within reach of Nigeria. The fact that Cross River State was declared non-littoral by the Supreme Court repeatedly in 2005 and 2012 was not an economic nemesis, as several economic corridors are open to the state, such as tourism and agriculture where the state is doing very well. Overstretching resources into an area that involves unlawful encroachment on Cameroonian territory could never be advantageous to the state as this will result an over stretching of resources. However if Bakassi is anticipated there must be sufficient guarantees to investors that their funds are not being gambled.

Your rant is bunch paranoid nonsense. The article came out before the budget so that's wrong. The environmentalists were fighting over this for years. Mostly because he was cutting through the rainforest with endangered gorillas. Then there's Cross Riverians fighting the governor over non payment after taking land which you can find on YouTube.

ALSCON reminds closed not because of environmentalists but because of government corruption. The supreme court ruled in BFI Group favor yet the government hasn't obeyed court order years after. Nigerians are their own problem. The steel plant was about litigation and government ineptitude.

You really should research this issue. You would have known that the governor wanted to use 25% of the states land for this project before the federal government stepped in. This project didn't fail EIA 3 times for nothing.

Whose land was he suppose to use? Another States land? Or it will be built on thin air?

Im amazed at these nonsensical questions. The issue isn't whose land he's using but the lack of compensation and lack of care for EIA. The second question is as daft as first because it misses point. Most rational people understand even if they dont know nitty gritty details.

You made it sound daft yourself by saying he is using the state's land. Like was he suppose to use other state's land? Point is when you 're writing make your information clear cuz at that point no one is in your thoughts to know the message you 're trying to pass. I'm certain that if you had mentioned compensation in your write up then it would 've been daft of me to pose those questions to you.

Also you need not to resort to insults to pass your message.

Stop these daft replies I'm wondering about your mental state. In what world does it make sense to use 25% of the states landmass for 1 project? Do I have to mention compensation before you understand how dumb that is? The states land refers to land within the state boundaries in this contex since you want to play Harvard professor. No that doesn't mean use another states land.

You thought process is utter nonsense. My criticism is harsh because your comments lack any sort of logic expected from an reasonable individual.

Its not the responsibility of FG to provide jobs to Nigerians- Presidency reveals

President Muhammadu Buhari special assistants on Industry, Trade and Investment, Olajumoke Omoniyi Oduwole, has said it is not the responsibility of the federal governments to provide jobs for Nigeria citizens.

Oduwole made this known in Abuja while addressing newsmen yesterday.

According to her, the role of the government was to create an enabling business environment for everybody to thrive.
