Depends. Personally I would love applicants to write their application so as to access their personality because your writing is you in real time. But my guy just do what others do, type it. I know why i said so.
Your handwritting is not you sir,, research has it that people with the best minds have very bad handwritting. I made a dinstinction but my handwritting is just average

It depends on the company. Some for some strange reasons do prefer you to write while some will want a typed application.

You either have a 3rd class, pass or have gone past the age for applying for a job.i hope you know 75% of top biz owners (not from wealthy homes) were once employees?..Pls quit spreading the wrong message. Tell what meaningfulbthing u do and earn and lets see if anyq will get motivated to b like u. #BS

He's actually saying the truth stop insulting him if you feel working under someone will satisfy u then keep working(there has to be balance). At least(I believe) there has to be balance in this life like someone working for another person abi??. This is my account statement last month(my goal next year is 1 million monthly) , all earned from just sitting at home. So my brother everyone has talent if u had used your talent very well you wont be working under someone by now. Note: I'm a student , 20 years old

I'm not supposed to reply this but the way u talked to that guy dosent make any sense, Even if he's third class, Do you know what he does for a living? do you know if he earns *3 of your salary monthly? Who your first class epp? Even someone with third class can still apply for a job and still get it if he/she has very good skill. So when we're talking money stop talking about School Grade two of them no relate at all

Always follow the requirements, if none about printing or hand writing, please make sure it is typed and brief. Most hand writings can be very poor, so to avoid making the HR knock his/her head and throw yours in the rejected files, please have your letter typed.

This is a huge lie. A job could be your dream, a job could also help your dreams either with experience from things you learn, people you meet or even financial gains, stop misleading people.

Pls always make sure your application letter is typed, it looks more professional that way. Unless it's a govt job where nobody cares.

Bros but you just collaborated me by stating what research says. Let me be practical.
A) if an employer needs an aggresive go getter, engage someone with a rushed writing if written on a plain paper the writing will slant up.
B) if you need an organized mind look for a neat handwriting. If the writing slants down then the person is not ambitious.
C) an artistic writing shows a flamboyant person that likes to show off.

How the writing rests whether back words, forward, straight or freestyle are all critical to determine the persons personality. Its an exact science that takes time to master. Use the few points above to refrence your friends and tell me if am wrong

You guys have opined well.
With so many articles and publications online on application writing, I think there is no set rule however on which form of application is ideal when applying for jobs. This is because, we have different companies, firms, organisations etc with their hiring policies.
When applying for jobs online for instance, a company could request for a typed application letter for a purpose while another won't state if it should be hand written or typed letter. In such a situation, I guess you should know which to use.
More so, when submitting hard copies of applications in offices, handwritten application is usually preferred, applicants have also received positive feedback after applying using a typed application letter.

Needless to say, I have gone for interviews after writing and submitting handwritten applications. There are several reasons why some organizations, HR Managers demand for handwritten applications. With all these in mind, handwritten application isn't archaic!

Today, we still have companies including ngo's requesting for 'handwritten applications' when applying for a jobs. Surprised? Don't be!
I think the most important thing is to know which is/was specified or required in the job requirement section. For unsolicited applications (or when submitting hard copies in envelopes), a typed or handwritten application letter could be used.

In summary, whichever application type you are using, I feel it's important to highlight the skills and experience that would make you a better candidate for the position.

GOD remains the Ultimate in everything!!!

I would stay away from a company that still insists on hand written applications in the 21st century, unless they make that an option and not compulsory. Otherwise, we have gone beyond the era of hand writing applications. It is a lot more convenient to type your application or better still send it as an e copy. If you have access to nairaland, then you should have access to a gmail account (free of charge).
