Nigeria currently has 152 universities registered and approved by the Nigeria University Commission (NUC), though there are so many Universities claiming to be approved and registered in Nigeria especially the private ones, that is the reason the NUC has come out clearly to list all approved Universities in Nigeria, the List shows there are currently 40 Federal Universities, 44 State universities and 68 Private Universities in Nigeria. The main issue here is that everybody wants to attend the best university or at least one of the best Universities, hence, the reason for ranking universities base on merit (how they perform and what they offer)....see the latest ranking by both international and local bodies here https://campusbiz.com.ng/best-top-university-nigeria/
