JOB SUMMARY: The Research Manager is responsible for the management and coordination
of internal and external research work and projects across the group and for giving
specialist guidance and advice to the business. The job holder will collate and analyse data
and provide evidence based recommendations which will be used to contribute to the
delivery of the group’s strategic goals.
Job Context and Scope
The jobholder will work closely with the Business Managers, Product Development and
Services teams.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
 Monitor and analyse business performance through a range of measures, internal and
external and communicating this back to the business with appropriate
recommendations.
 Organise and log all research reports, internal and external, to ensure a high-level view
of significant findings and trends get value from them and report them back to the
business.
 Manage most internal research projects.
 Manage external projects as required, including scope of the research and define
research methodology or brief an outsourced research coordinator to do so.
 Source the most appropriate external research agencies for specific research projects,
using an outsourced research coordinator where appropriate, ensuring these are

Nature and range of impact
 Major research projects are agreed on an annual basis as part of the corporate planning
cycle. There is also a need to run some research at relatively short notice in support of
business needs as they arise.
 Most projects commissioned will provide significant data to the organisation, sometimes
contributing to decisions at a senior level on whether or not to proceed with investment
in a new market or product.
 Regular data on product performance provided is used to monitor the performance of
the business.

 Master’s Degree in Statistics, Economics, International Development, Public Policy or
related field, from a reputable institution
