20-Year Old LASU Student Represents Africa At World Bank Youth Summit, Meets World Bank President.

There is no doubt that the future of Africa belongs to the youths and one of those who are pushing for that great future is a university student in Lagos named Pelumi Olugbenga. Pelumi who is one of the youngest ever minds to be selected for the annual Summit by the World Bank Group represented the voice of African youths at the just concluded World Bank Youth Summit for Innovation and Technology that held at the World Bank Headquarters in Washington DC, United States of America. The 400-level LASU student engaged the international community on the challenge of brain drain in Africa and why Africa must start its growth towards sustainable development with what it presently has. Pelumi who is the Country Manager of NIGUSACO, a nonprofit organization based in Georgia, United States as well as the Founder of Save The Future Project explained why investment in quality education will be a driving force for innovation and technological development in Nigeria and Africa. The LASU student of History and International Studies was part of an interactive session with the World Bank President - Jim Yong Kim in the course of Summit. The President of the World Bank commended the youths present at the Summit. He declared that he was quite impressed with the quality of their applications which gave the World Bank some hard time in selecting the best out of the very best. According to the World Bank, over 2,800 young people across 140 countries applied to attend the Summit and only exceptional applicants were selected.

Pelumi is also said to have met with members of the Nigerian community at the World Bank.

This is not the first time Pelumi will be representing Africa on the global stage. He recently completed a Fellowship Programme at the University of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania as well as a selected Delegate for the Commonwealth Youth Summit that held in Malaysia some weeks ago.

He is here on nairaland as @AmbodOfLASU

Let's celebrate this great ambassador of Africa.

Lol. He even looks younger than 20. He got no beards yet self(which 16-17 boys already got). You can follow him on Facebook or here on nairaland.

I'm just proud he is making the country proud abroad while still schooling in a local state university.

nice feet,so something good comes out from this school yet my friends in lasu would have me believe it is only thugs, yahoo boys, cults, party freaks and NFA that attends the school

An important lesson learnt today is never generalize

not all ibos are criminals
not all afonjas are dirty
not all Madrid fan hates messi
not all nwaamaikpe's comment lacks conscience
not all SARS are heartless
not all pastors are fraud(this to me is disheartening because if it were back in the days,I should be saying not all pastors are genuine)
not all gee boys dey pick

seeing this guy smile feels like there's something missing(no pun intended)

who could have believe a gem like this would emerge from LASU. LASU of all schools... school of omo wobe and amugbo, but that is life for you. people tend to look down on state universities, not knowing there are gems in there. I would not be surprised if students from TASUED, LAUTECH or EKPOMA are blazing the trails.

life is meant to be enjoyed while being a youth... Him achieving this at this age speaks well of his personal development. We all can do it.
