Great news. Onitsha General Hospital is now officially Federal Medical Center Onitsha (FMC), courtesy of Sen Stella Adaeze Oduah.

Hopefully, combined funding from federal and Anambra state governments will lead to improved quality care for patients.

I don’t know if you will create a new topic concerning queen of holy rosary school in onitsha that just won another great award in far away USA 🇺🇸 or I should tag ?

Ebonyi has the highest poverty rate in southern Nigeria. Ebonyi has the highest illiteracy rate in southern Nigeria. What ebonyi needs is not airport or railway but human capital development and investment in education, so that ebonyi people will stop hawking pure water in Onitsha, PH and Lagos.

A look in and around Anambra int'l airport, including the approach drive from the uncompleted SUKUK expressway.

Can the state gov't for heavens sakes please landscape in and around the airport premises as well as sweep all the roads? I've mentioned this a few months back, but nothing has been done about it.

Haven't visited Onitsha in years, but have been really impressed with all the newly evolving residential areas springing up in the city...especially in the GRA/Nkisi/Akpaka area. Like we always say, individual effort in Anambra is second to none.....what's lacking is the state and local gov'ts adequately playing their own part.

In my estimation, the creator of the attached YouTube videos is doing a sterling job showcasing Anambra towns and cities. However, he isn't particularly liked by some because he shows everything....warts and all: the good, the bad and the ugly! But it's important he shows everything so we know where the rain started beating us and in what areas we need to hold the state and local gov'ts to account.

You get an idea of just how massive and built-up Onitsha metropolitan area is when you watch the content creators videos, and it's almost criminal that the federal gov't has next to zero input in the financing, maintainance and evolution of this city! All you see is down to the input, effort and sweat of the state gov't, as well as those of the city's commercial and residential inhabitants.....they have all been overwhelmed by the massive developmental demands and this is the major reason why there's a noticeable dearth in provision of public utilities and infrastructure.

Watching these clips, i've a new found love for Onitsha and hope the Soludo gov't can address most if not all its infrastructural challenges.

Couple of things to note from the clips:

*@1.35 in the Trans-Nkisi clip, you notice a lady sweeping the road. First time i'm seeing this while watching YouTube clips of Onitsha and it shows our complaints to gov't on this thread are actually working.

*In the Trans-Nkisi clip, the content creator said the road leading into Trans-Nkisi GRA is quite busy and is long overdue for dualisation. He's spot on in this assessment going by the traffic shown in the clip, and the road is wide enough to be dualised.

*@12.29 in the Trans-Nkisi clip, he talks of how the entire area you're watching was undeveloped virgin land about 12 years ago, and at this point in the clip i also noticed a well manicured piece of open land by NTA quarters.....this -coupled with well constructed inner roads- will give you an idea of the potential well-tended greenery has for uplifting the aesthetics and ambience of the area.

*As we've come to expect with any new estate or high-brow area in Anambra, there are well-appointed mansions and duplexes left, right and centre. The problem i see is with the way some landlords build their perimeter walls so close to the roads. In any urban renewal programme for Onitsha....including Awka and Nnewi, the state gov't has to knock down some of those walls so the roads can be built properly with sidewalks, street lights and trees where possible.

*Highbrow areas NEED tree-lined streets like humans need oxygen! Trees help to mop up carbon dioxide, reduce dust levels in the atmosphere, and give shade and cooling to the streets below. Also any open spaces should be grassed over....like we saw in the Trans-Nkisi clip @12.29. One of the reasons our roads are usually so muddy and filled with sediment....that is besides not being swept regularly, is because there's so much ungrassed, exposed bare earth everywhere!

*It's clear from watching the Akpaka GRA clip that there needs to be a TOTAL overhaul of most if not all the inner roads in old GRA, and have them reconstructed to world-class standards. There's just too many failed portions and they're just not aesthetically pleasing to look at!

*From around 3.50 on the Akpaka GRA clip, Oguta road was shown. It's a prominent road in Onitsha and should be reconstructed, widened and tidied up as it's looking quite scruffy and unkempt at the moment. Towards the DMGS end, i also noticed some CKC students heading back to school....ah, the memories! Bonitas, Disciplina, Scientia! shocked grin

*@10.25 on the Akpaka GRA clip, we enter the road that leads to the entrance of the GRA, and we see heaps of chippings/gravel deposited in readiness for the reconstruction of the road by the Soludo gov't. Commendable effort.....and we hope the job is done well. Any encroaching walls from private properties on the road should be demolished as appropriate!

All Onitsha needs to look its best is well constructed and tidy roads, greenery, and the knocking of a few stubborn Igbo heads together! smiley

Anambra state Governor need to task commissioner for environment to work..why do we always have sand on our road side even in our major city road's.. That's disgrace and nonsense... Buy vehicle that sweep road..employ people to sweep out sand on our major city road's... How can we give this info to Mr Governor because it seems they lack vision.. But they do visit other States and overseas.. Rubbish

Soludo is just one year in office, not an excuse though. Why didn't Willie Obiano, From that side, knowing how economically viable the road is, push for it?
Tony Nwoye, Stella Oduah, Chinedu Obidigwe are all there, why didn't they push for it?
Soludo has mentioned the importance of Anambra/Lokoja highway, let's see how it goes.

I won't even blame Soludo if he failed to dualize the road because Obiano promised us heaven and earth with the same road and ended up leaving the road to rot. The road is currently not motorable sef.

Anambra has the best roads in igboland both dual carriageways and otherwise. As for sand on road sides, it is mostly seen in Owerri and Aba. Anambra international airport is the best in SE with the longest runway in the region. Anambra is generally the most developed state in igboland

We can all agree Obiano failed our state woefully. The man is the single reason Anambra is not the most developed and viable state in the federation.

The money wasted in building that airport and ICC is well enough to construct all the key roads at Onicha, Nnewi and Awka. It makes my heart bleed to be honest.

What ended up happening is that we have a huge infrastructural deficit in the state with an empty bank account in a period little to no money is coming from the FAAC account. Additionally, our people hate paying taxes but want Anambra to transform to Dubai overnight. Its heart wrenching I swear down!

You are mocking a state like Ebonyi that is recovering up from it's sad past,Ebonyi state is now the best in the southeast interms of infrastructural development whether you guys like it or not and it's Airport has been rated by NCAA as the best runway in Nigeria.
I'm happy the newly sworn in govt has laid a major plan for Education and human capital development

Stop disturbing this thread with your repetitive gibberish. Anambra has the best roads in igboland. No state in the region comes close to Anambra when it comes to infrastructures. Anambra has the best cities in igboland, that's why people from other SE states are trooping to Anambra for greener pasture. If you think Soludo isn't doing enough already, then bring your useless fada to come try.

Instead of you to face your backward useless worthless shithole imo state, you are here trying to show your stupidity.

Imo state is in ruins with dilapidated roads and filthy environment, but all you are bothered about is Anambra where millions of imo indigenes preferred to make their home.

Imo state is the worst state in southeast now, even ebonyi and abia has overtaken imo state.

As for airport, imo is yet to have an airport what's in imo state in the name of airport is a motorpark. Now ebonyi has gotten airport before imo state. Shame on imo state leaders..
