:But a prophet who presumes to speak in my name anything I have not commanded, or a prophet who speaks in the name of other gods, is to be put to death.” Deuteronomy 18:20

Now how do we know if what the prophet said had not been commanded by God.

"If a prophet speaks in the name of the Lord and what he says does not come true, then it is not the Lord's message. That prophet has spoken on his own authority, and you are not to fear him." Deut. 18:22

This scripture right here, is the reason why I don't regard certain pastors in Nigeria. They should be grateful for the liberty we enjoy in christiandom. If it were in those days many of them would have been put to death already. They make predictions that don't come true and they still pompously come the next year to make another set of predictions. If that was the criteria to be called a prophet, then every Bet9ja player in Nigeria today should be called a prophet.
This is becoming an embarrassment to Christianity and some thing should be done about it.

You're right. A lot of their prophecies are generalised statements, guess work, and figment of their own imaginations.

Any one conversant with Nigeria's socio-economic and political environment as well as international politics can give these so-called prophecies.

I gave mine (See "My Prophecies For 2018") and surprisingly (or rather amusingly) about 70 percent of my intelligent guess work are captured in their prophecies.

Op you should know that this world is temporarily. Whatever you see now isn't farfetched from what was written in the bible.
Now you are complaining of prophets prophesying probably because the prophecies are not good. Had being it was good, you would say it is guest work. Had being they didn't talk you would miss them because you got use to it by force.

The Bible has made it clear that such prophets should not be regarded.

Read your Bible very well. You will discover that prophecy is not always clear. Are we now God that knows everything?

1 corinthians 13:9, the prophecy is fragmentary that is incomplete and imperfect.

The most important thing is use the prophecy as a guide in journey throughout 2018, if you just wave it aside and say it is a lie, then it happens, and what are you going to do?

It is an instrument use to watch and pray.

However, you can still test all prophecy by the word of God. If it does not agree with scripture or the person giving out the prophesy lack the fruit of the spirit.

God help us.

Yes they shouldn't be regarded but op is regarding them already. It is better he just ignore then than type things to make them popular
