Gan Allah Fulani Development Association of Nigeria (GAFDAN), a Fulani group, has blamed the prevailing hostilities in Benue State that have claimed scores of lives on “the enactment of draconian, repressive and peace-breaching laws targeted at the means of livelihood of over 18 million Fulani herdsmen in the country without regards to the consequences of such oppressive laws to the corporate existence of the country,” by the state government.

In a statement signed by the National Secretary General and Board of Trustee (BoT) member of the association, Alhaji Sale Bayari, the group urged the federal government and the leadership of the National Assembly to immediately set up a high-powered committee to look into the deadly clashes between farmers and herdsmen in the country, which according to him, has the capacity to a cause a national security crisis.

Bayari also called for a cessation of hostilities in Benue “while amicable and long-lasting solutions are being sought at a national level over the unnecessary bloodletting that has the capacity of radicalising and militarising both the farmers and the herdsmen that can result into an insurgency and resistance, with the consequent total breakdown of law and order in the country.”

He observed: “There is a relative peace in Taraba State today despite the alleged killing of over 900 herdsmen on the Mambilla Plateau of Sardauna Local Government Area of the state between June 17 and 23, 2017, was because the association instituted a legal intervention by employing the services of a lawyer, Professor Yusuf Dankofa, who filed a suit against the Taraba State Government and the federal government at the ECOWAS Court and the International Criminal Court of Justice at the Hague respectively seeking justice for the victims.

“The association also filed another law suit challenging the Taraba State House of Assembly and the state government on the enactment and signing into law the Taraba State Anti-Open Grazing Law.”

He added that “GAFDAN did all these in order to discourage people from taking the law into their hands for self-help like what is happening today in Benue State. As a law-abiding association, we shall always operate within the ambit of the law and the constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.”

This people think they have rights other dnt have. The peace in Taraba state is not because of any suite instituted but because the Mambilla people of Taraba gave the fulanis their on doze by killing them without reservation. The only language those demons called fulani herdsmen understand is violence and that is what the people of Taraba gave to them and are stil ready to repeat it if not for the state government Ishaku's intervention.

But the Benue youths are cowards and that is why those idiots are running them dwn at wil. They must rise and take their destiny in their hand by dealing with them like the Tarabas did

Why didn't they institute a legal action before carrying out that inhumane act?
So they can choose which law to abide by?
It's obvious they have the backings of FG.

Fulani herdsmen killings a planned genocide – Benue elders

Benue elders on Thursday declared that the murderous activities of Fulani herdsmen in the state was a “planned genocide” aimed at decimating the state.

They made the declaration while calling the All Progressives Congress, APC-led Federal Government to “stand up against the planned genocide in Benue State.”

Elders under three socio-cultural organisations in the state, Mdzough U Tiv, Idoma National Forum and Omi Ny’Igede, made the call in Abuja, while condemning the perennial Fulani herdsmen attacks that has led to loss of lives in Benue State.

Speaking on behalf of the elders of the organisations, Edward Ujege, President-General of Mdzough U Tiv, alleged that “there was an alleged armed Fulani militia build-up and convergence at the Nigeria-Cameroon border and at the Agatu border with Nassarawa State.”

He said, “We the people of Benue State here represented by the Mdzough U Tiv, Idoma National Forum and Omi Ny’Igede, the principal umbrella socio- cultural groups of the Tiv, Idoma and Igede nations wish to inform the world of the callous and barbaric unprovoked attack resulting into possible genocide and destruction of lives and properties of the Benue people by Fulani herdsmen which incidence commenced on the 1st January, 2018.

“It was reliably gathered that the leadership of the Miyetti Allah Kautal Hore held clandestine meetings in Nigeria and abroad to visit mayhem and genocide on the people of Benue State.

”The plot was said to be multi- directional and aimed to simultaneously invade and and attack Benue from every angle so that there would be no escape for our defenseless people.

“We are calling on political parties especially the All Progressives Congress, APC, which is running the Federal Government to stand up against the planned genocide in Benue State.

“We are calling on all tribal associations to stand up to be counted on the side of Benue people in this trying times and where possible provide relief for internally displaced people who are amassing in the small villages that are yet to be attacked.”

Stopping herdsmen from grazing on farmlands is draconian but stopping me from selling beer in the North is not draconian?

All states, tribes and people should arm their youths. The fulanis are terrorists and the only language they understand is terror. They step on your land, you wipe them off. That's the only solution.

This is what those in the Mambilla Plateau did and the fulanis ran out of their land till today.
