Ogun 2019: Ogun State Will Not Go To A Non Indigene - Amosun by Irukkanews: 3:16pm On Jan 22, 2018
Ogun State Governor, Senator Ibikunle Amosun has reiterated his commitment to hand over the baton of leadership to an Ogun West indigene in 2019. The governor, gave the commitment, while playing host to prominent elders from Ogun West Senatorial district, who paid him a solidarity visit at his Oke-Mosan Abeokuta office, adding that he would not hand over to a non indigene, pretending to "be a son of the soil".

He said he would not be distracted by the attitudes of those he described as desperate politicians, trying to rock the boat. The governor, who pleaded with the Yewa Elders to close ranks, equally enjoined them not to see governorship aspirants from Ogun East and Central Senatorial Districts as enemies, but as partners in progress.

"Our people from Ogun East and Central are not our enemies, because they also have the right to aspire. We need to lobby, consult and reach out to them for their support", he said.

He allayed the fears of the Yewa Elders that he was deceiving them on the Yewa Agenda, pointing out that "it is only a coward that would say a thing and would not stand with it to the end".

Professor Anthony Asiwaju, Engr. Kehinde Aina, Chief Ajibabi Basiru, Chief Ayinde Ibikunle and Hon. Kunle Elegbede, from Imeko Afon, Ado-Odo Otta, Ipokia, Yewa South and Yewa North Local Government Areas, respectively, all said in unison that they would go with Amosun wherever he wishes on the Yewa Agenda in 2019.

Also speaking on behalf of Yewa Think Thank Group, a former Head of Service and Secretary to the State Government, Deacon Poju Adeyemi, said the body is yet to adopt any candidate for the 2019 gubernatorial race.
Equally, Senator Iyabo Anisulowo, Prof. Biyi Afonja and Senator Kola Bajomo, said

" we have people in Ogun West Senatorial District that have the knowledge, ability and capacity to run the affairs of the state", while pleading with the governor to allow the "Ogun West Agenda" come to fruition in his time.

Why are you campaigning for Yayi? He is part of the old politicians that has made this nation stagnant, but anyway its left for people of Ogun to choose who they want.

Instead of amosun to promise a free and fair contest. He's indicating where his successor would come from. What would he do if his party loses?

Amosun should quit this habit of disparaging yayi the way he's been doing lately coz it's making him look desperate. As the incumbent, imposing his successor should ordinarily be a cakewalk for him, but the way he's been going about antagonizing Yayi's ambition gives the impression that he's seeing the guy as a real threat or something. He can have his way without this public show of desperation on his part.

Honestly I don't know what's making Governor Amosun feels he's a more indigenous politician than any other politician! Is it now that his tenure is winding up that he is flying the indigenous kite for would-be successors? This is really a huge joke cos I know Amosun himself was not in anyway indigenous before he became governor!!....he runs a an audit firm in Ikeja & was resident in Lagos before becoming governor just as most of his serving commissioners earned their reputation in their respective callings while residing outside the state.

There are lots of Ogun sons and daughters that are currently making wave within and outside the country, and many of whom are eminently qualified to aspire and become governor of Ogun state!! Oh after serving out and enjoying his own two terms o, he now knows it is good to be indigenous to become governor!....A beg who indigenous epp? Go see the road from Ilisan to Ago Iwoye where the state's foremost tertiary institution is located, you will be disappointed. Most of the investment in road infrastructure under Amosun govt are concentrated in Abeokuta with the hinterlands and industrial areas like Agbara, Mowe and Sango having little govt presence; the Akute/Berger project has been abandoned; the pothole and traffic from sango through owode is epic!! In the 8 years of governor Amosun reign, we have not seen any major transformational project in road, healthcare, school, housing or power infrastructure in the shape of what is currently happening in Lagos; it's only the shout of no non-indigenous successor he's ranting everyday!.......Whether Gov Amosun likes it or not, Ogun indigenes everywhere will determine who the next governor will be. I am just disappointed in people going to plead with him to consider their region as the next in line to produce the governor in 2019! Amosun does not have monopoly of that decision & he should stop acting as if he's all in all!!!

With Amosun, we have seen the level of governance an indigene is capable of delivering, what we need in 2019 is a governor with a diaspora exposure! Don't be deceived again o!
