Sixteen states in the nation have agreed to establish cattle colonies for herdsmen.

The establishment of cattle colonies was an idea proposed by the federal government to solve the incessant conflicts between Fulani herdsmen and farmers. The conflicts have led to deaths of hundreds and the displacement of thousands.

Here are the states ready to establish cattle colonies for herdsmen:

1. Adamawa
2. Kano
3. Kaduna
4. Katsina
5. Zamfara
6. Kebbi
7. Nasarawa
8. Plateau
9. Bauchi
10. Gombe
11. Borno
12. Jigawa
13. Yobe
14. Niger
15. Kogi
16. Kwara

How come Sokoto the capital of the caliphate is not among them?

And what are Yoruboid states like Kogi and Kwara doing there?

I hope they are following what is happening in Kogi State? I think the governor is on his own as nobody especially those in the west and east senotorai districts of the state completely disassociate themselves from the said colony...!!!

They should just delet their mind off Kogi State judging from the body language there..

Good for them. Someone should save this I'm about to write somewhere for posterity sake.
Cattle colony will never be a solution to herdsmen vs farmers clash in Nigeria. After 2-3 years of establishment, the clash will resurface. Why? Fulani man by nature is a hovering animal (animal in general terms).he hates to be confined in a particular place. He enjoys moving from place to place. When he's restricted to a particular place, he sees it as a deprivation of his natural self characteristics. More so, a death of a single cow in that colony as a result of disease will lead to all of them vacating the place.
Prof. Baba of Geography dept, Federal University of Technology, Minna (God bless his soul) forecasted this clash over 40years ago. He made it clear that colony or ranch will never be a solution, rather, education will help. Educate the Fulanis on the risk they put the country when they allow their cows to destroy the crops of the farmers. Tutor them on the need to mix farm. When they mix cattle rearing with crop production, they will understand the important of the two. This will go a long way to instill in them the consciousness to avoid destroying farmlands as they are involved too. The foliages from harvested crops will also be used to feed the cows during dry season. Enact a law stiffly banning any herdsman entering any farmland that's not his. Let's see if the clash will continue. What happens when there are no grasses growing anymore in these so called colonies? Will the Fulanis still stay there living their cows to die of starvation? These states that are indicating interest in establishing these colonies, haven't the Fulanis been there all along? The federal government knows what to do but are playing politics with human lives. We know their agenda, but it won't work. Thank God the south has rejected it in entirety.

South no dey happy.

Plateau looks odd on that list especially as Taraba is nowhere to be found.

In other news, it appears Kogi is well on its way to become another future Kwara.

The states who truly believe in a Nigeria free from discrimination and hate. They have ignored the unreasonable propaganda against Fulani and accepted like every Nigerian they have a right to do business and live free.

Why didn't FKK, Fayose et al invite them to his backyard, oh wait he hates Fulanis but willing collects money from a Fulani Prince

The establishment of a cattle colony is not the problem, the problem is the resultant effects that would accrue in the next 50 to 100 years.

What would happen then? These Fulanis would have been settled, brought their extended families to live and dwell in those colonies, establish a recognized leadership e.g emir of Abia colony, the next thing is to legitimate struggle for expansion of territory, if that fails then comes the jihad to forcefully expand their territories and the bloody mayhem would even be worse than what we presently face.

Ask our Ilorin brothers how dey take get Emir of Fulani lineage in a region that is Yoruba. It's dates back to centuries ago, it all started with a visit and giving land as a form of hospitality.

All southerners should be weary of this policy, the resultant effects may not be a sweet story in the end

Remove Kogi from the list. It's a unilateral decision by an unelected Governor. His people have categorically said no.
