Clashes in northwest Nigeria between suspected Fulani cattle rustlers mounted on motorbikes and local youth vigilantes from the rival Hausa ethnic group left at least 72 people dead, police said on Monday.

Dozens of gunmen raided a meeting of youth vigilantes and local hunters who had gathered from different areas at the remote village of Yar Galadima, in northwest Zamfara state, on Saturday.

"The attackers came in large numbers on motorcycles and shot sporadically," police spokesman Lawal Abdullahi said by telephone. "At the end 72 people were killed including the bandits, because the vigilantes and hunters fought back."

Because it is easy to poison the minds of people now by claiming a Fulani man is trying to dominate and islamize the country.

It's all politics.

We were quiet before because they did their killings in a covert way, but now they hv grown in confidence since their patron is our president.

At the same time after poisoning the minds of the people they oppose any proposal to prevent future occurrence.

Put in mind, years to come the solutions would be the same.

Your head correct.
The Baba was AWARE of this politically motivated killings and he is managing them.
He probably doesn't want this issue to snowballs into another Boko Palaver, one is bad enough.
Did you see that woman wearing black dress and shedding tears, and the fire breathing pastors too?.
They are all part of the bad publicity stunts, let's keep our fingers crossed and wait for their next move.
The MOST important thing is to keep eye on the game, If this government wants to keep the power, they should ignore the perpetuator for now and FIX them after the election.

But where were the governors and reps of those states whose citizens were being killed? I can't even remember it being debated on TV like it is now. Thank God for people like Ortom who is staking all including his life to fight for his people.

They are not stupid people.

They know oil was being sold at over a hundred dollars per barrel, politicians and their cronies including their children were buying plots of Land in Abuja and Lagos at billions of Naira per plot.

They could see excess crude account depleting, foreign reserves reducing rather than growing yet no welfare for the common folk.

Hope you are not blind and forgetful at the same time.

Salary increment in light of an inflationary economy in which politicians and cronies (Patience Jonathan) count in Billions of Naira and dollars is not welfare.

It was the least they could do.

Are you guys really that daft? Before 2015, Nigerians were not so politically aware. Political interest was almost zero. Pastors were telling their members to shun politics calling it a dirty game. Then came Buhari, Tinubu and APC. They built up political awareness in Nigerians. Today, pastors are at the fore front of calling for their members to be registered and to participate fully in politics. You woke the political animal in all of us, now you are worried that our new found awareness will derail your ambitions? Sorry, too late. We know better now, thanks to your desperation. We will shout about any political issue in Nigeria at the top of our voices until you and your pay Masters fall in line. If you thought we will just go back to political naivety, after 2015 then sorry for you.

Now that the issue is dominating our national discourse, the president should act like a national leader and resolve it. The people being killed are citizens of Nigeria and the president has a duty to protect them. Whether it has been happening since independence is irrelevant. It has gotten to a point that it is no longer tolerable and it must stop.

What a sensible person should do is to condemn these killings perpetrated by the fulani herdsmen and force General Buhari to sit up and protect Nigerians....whether more people were killed during obasanjos time is irrelevant.

Shall we then continue to sin and keep quiet that grace may abound? What kind of dirty comparison is this? So because u assume people were quiet, then they should still remain quiet?
At least nobody was trying to defend perpetrators then and they were dealt with unlike now that the presidency can suddenly not agree on who the murderers and terrorists are; today they are foreigners from Libya, tomorrow they are ISWA, next week it is reduced to mere two-fighting unto communal clashes, later on we are asked to accommodate foreigners yet they are still citizens with rights to live, work and kill in any part of the country. All these shifting of posts show that the president and his government are in support and until decisive action is taken, we will continue to shout and castigate evil men in office. Cattle colonies will remain a figment of their dead imaginations except maybe in Sambisa.

No need for the insults. You made a comment and we would just like to know more about it. But no wahala if you are feeling too big to respond to my request.

BTW, this thread is not about Jonathan, Buhari or OBJ. It's about the populace who kept quiet while innocent people were being killed in their thousands.

People would always keep quiet when it's not affecting them directly na...The world kept quiet when millions of Biafrans were massacred by Hausa/Fulani in '67.
It is the nature of human beings to always keep quiet when it's not affecting them directly.
Re: The Fulani Herdsmen Menace - Why Were We Quiet All These Years? by tesppidd: 1:45pm On Jan 29, 2018
It's simple;

The PDP wants to use it as a campaign point.

To the biafrans, the decimation of Nnamdi Kanu is a son which can never be forgiven.

To the wailing wailers, the sending of Jonathan back to otuoke is an unpardonable sin.

So these people feel no sympathy for the people of benue, they are only playing politics.
