The photo was not taken in 1985. It was after the Orkar's coup that Babaginda promoted Abacha to the rank of a full general as a 'thank you' for saving his life. In the picture Abacha was wearing the rank of a full general, so it must have been after the Orka's coup.

Babangida's actions and inactions contributed to more than 90% of Nigeria's dilapidated state today. Posterity should never forgive him.
