Information technology – often shortened to just IT – is a buzz phrase you’ve probably heard ad nauseum if you happen to work with IT personnel or went to school for anything related to computers. IT workers are highly specialized in their field, which is probably why they’re often just called “IT nerds.” They like what they do and understand it inside and out. IT workers are also essential to just about every modern business model. If a company relies on phones and emails, chances are that there’s an IT professional behind it all making sure the cogs in the machine function properly.

2. Cloud architect
3. Computer forensic investigator
4. Health IT specialist
5. Mobile application developer.

It doesn't matter the location, what is important here is that he wants to start a career in Informational Technology. One of my friends is working in this domain and he really likes his job. I think that in this job you don't know what means routine hehe. That is why now I'm focused on this job too. I googled and found a blog about information technology and there I found a lot of information about types of technology, why do we need to study it, and what is most important where we can work with this degree. I guess that you will find a lot of interesting things there, so have a look.

Sorry bro, not in this middle of pandemic. The much I can do for you now is to send you some free resource materials and probably check in with you from time to time to see how you are progressing. To be honest, I won't be able to mentor anyone at this point in time. I hope you understand. Take care!

Good day Gurus in the house
Ease I'm in a very hot seat and need advice

Im a graduate of biochemistry and after my service in an health NGO, I got retained, I was lucky

I was retained as a data manager, I knew nothing about data but I quickly used YouTube videos to brush up, now I can use kobocollect, ODK, MySQL and slightly tableu,
I'm good at using Microsoft offices, I can install printers scanners etc to laptops,

Just about 4 months into this role, my office manager called me that there's vacancy (IT officer)

She asked if I can do it and i just said yes.

She said its basically not hardware issues because our organization have a computer company that take care of our maintaince

So it's basically about configuration, installations ,troubleshooting and coordinating the affairs of this computer company.

Somebody said something to me about computer networking but I know nothing about it.

Please how do I start, what should I learn and in what order

I'm a fast learner

Your advice is highly appreciated
Hint : I'm. In Enugu

If you are a fast learner, I will recommend an udemy course on fundamental networking by "Neil Anderson" it entails real world scenario, you will gain hand on experience after studying the course. Buy the course and download packet tracer. Packet tracer is a simulator, u will configure switches and routers visually.
Finally couple the video tutorials with this text book, implementing and Administering Cisco solutions 200-301. CCNA EXAM GUIDE BY GLEN D. SINGH and thank me later.

If you are interested in Self-study through seasoned and experienced tutors, I can share my Lynda.com login with you to assess different varieties of courses professional and IT courses such as

Project Management
Full-stack, Frontend, Backend web development,
Designing courses,

App Development,

IT security and a host of others you can find on Lynda...

I also have some courses on Web Development that I purchased from UDEMY.com

I am committed to learning in 2018.

PS: You can find some of this courses on torrent sites but from my experience, those courses has been updated and exercise files are always absent from them.

I had to go over to Udemy to buy the course for the sales of the exercise files which is serving as a guide....

So sorry for waking up late, please are these materials still available? I would love to have access to them.

Nice one OP. for the newbi, please learn Linux. whichever area you want to establish urself in, Linux is the bedrock of today's IT infrastructure.

Certifications are good but please go for the skills first. It is very tough to break in but your skillset will make way for. That's what I did and my first IT job fetched me 140k per month without a single certification and that's because at the point of interview , I was able to prove that I have the skill set in my CV

Thanks for this clue, please how do I go about it, cos I just wake up from my slumber now, is Linux still the bed rock??
