IGP Directs Police Commissioners To Disarm Militias In States by Blue3k2: 3:10pm On Feb 01, 2018
…Silent on herdsmen
By Joseph Erunke
ABUJA – THE Inspector General of Police, Ibrahim Idris, has directed all state Commissioners of Police to immediately disarm militias in the various states they are in charge of.

This was even as he warned state governments against arming militias to protect citizens of their states, saying no law in the land empowers them to do such.

He said the Nigerian constitution made it clear that only the security agencies were responsible for carrying arms and ammunition, vowing that those who violate the law in whatever guise would be dealt with accordingly.

Idris, who gave the directive Thursday, a meet with Commissioners of Police and officers above, was however, silent on whether the same applies to herdsmen, who have been not only been accused of carrying sophisticated weapons but also being responsible for killings across the country for over some time now.

Details coming….

When will the igp give order to disarm terrorist herdsmen carrying ak47 and other sophisticated weapons or are they now above the law.

Self defense is an inalienable right ,the igp should be properly advised.

So how many Fulani Ak47 carriers have u disarmed in various states..

And the President is insensitive to these killing because his children are not among.

This is why i love US and their gun control policy(second amendment)

Since the security aides are not available to secure lives let the citizens protect themselves

Very insensitive directive from the IGP. When will he disarm Fulani herdsmen or does the constitution empowers them to carry weapon? Mad directive.

Disarm militias? What about herdsmen? Because oga igp never mentioned anything about disarming them. If the security agents can't protect people then they should be allowed to protect themselves.

No be small Fulageria.

When we were shouting about Nigeria's security being in the hands of the Fulani's, people couldn't see the handwriting on the wall due to their hatred for Eastern Region, we were called 5%ter's, now see where it has landed us. But, the truth is that I'm happy we all are in this together, Fulani herdsmen does not know whether your region voted massively for their brother to become the president or that the VP is from your region, they will kill your people, even invade your farmland, damage your crop's with their cattle's and the court will sanction you to even pay them millions of Naira. Is it not funny and ridiculous? Lest i forget, they will even kidnap your elder statesman, you pay them ransom for him to be released and the Fulani security forces above will still guide them.

Does the disarming include these people?

Why would the government authorize arms for the herdsmen to protect their cows but not militias to protect themselves...humans...?

I no fit understand this thing...

I warned against this before.

If you push Nigerians to defend themselves... The fulanis will be decimated.

Make same strong stance against the fulani herdsmen and arrest those who admitted they killed villagers cos of killed cows..

This directive will make it worse.

It is finished cry

They want to disarm all state militias in order to make communities and states powerless to pave way for fulani militia cum herdsmen.

Notice when this govt took over, the first they did was to order all security checkpoints across Nigerian highways to be removed, why

A country that's battling security issue, u deemed it fit to dismantle highway checkpoints in order to make it easy for some special militias to move their arms around to target states, its well angry

They want to disarm militia for fulani herdsmen.
That way, it'd be easy for them to descend on a village and attack without any distraction.
God punish Buhari.

The fulanis are cowards and can easily be defeated if you match them fire for fire.

Now that people have formed militia groups, the Fulani IGP is running up and down to disarm them because he knows his brothers are getting slaughtered and given fire for fire.

The only language they understand is violence, give it to them and they will respect you
