One of my colleagues' 2005 Nissan Xterra will not engage the Reverse gear, neither will it shift to higher level no matter how you push the accelerator pedal.

He took it to the repair shop and they scaned it and the following results:

P0720 : output speed sensor malfunction
P0725: engine speed input circuit malfunction
P1754: coast clutch solenoid circuit
P1759: automatic transaxle (FR/B Solenoid FNCTN)
P1769: HLR/C Solenoid FNCTN
P1764: DC Solenoid FNCTN
P1757: FR/B Solenoid/Circuit

In addition to the check engine lighth, the 4WD light is constantly showing on the panel. They said he should change the gear box but then, we need to be sure because the money involved is not small at all. It is the 4.0 liter Xterra.

Any help will be appreciated.

My cousin had similar problems on his xterra.he took it to the Nissan workshop along apapaoshodi expressway before guardian newspapers and got it fixed.im sure they'd be of help to you too.best of luck

Its all sensor issues, no need to mess with gearbox

Some say replace the clutch solenoid valve
