Why There Are No Soul Mates... by TheMaleCulture: 9:14am On Feb 09, 2018 |
Have you ever heard those songs that talk about finding that girl who was specially made for you and who your life can't be complete without? That's the Soul Mate Myth. I have personally seen Men stick in clearly abusive relationships all because they feel their partner is the "one" that was made for them and who their happiness hangs on. There are some good ones, there are some bad ones but there is definitely no ONE. There are lots of special ONES for you, just ask the widowed person who shortly remarried after their "soulmate" died. Many guys ruin their lives and stunt their growth because they invested heavily in this "Only One" myth. They relocated somewhere that wasn't favourable to them because they wanted to be closer to the soulmate, they chose careers or universities that they really want to be in or jobs that clearly didn't favour their growth because they wanted to cater to the soulmate. When they eventually lose the "soulmate", they feel bad not just for the time and energy wasted, but for the fact that they might never get their life back on track because they lost their "one and only." You have to realise that there's no one and only. Some people get upset when I tell them to start with self development and improvement. Going to the gym, looking for better opportunities for your career, making more money, learning new things, networking constantly are more likely to make you a better person and give you lots of options in various areas in your life. When you're in the dating phase with a self development mindset, you come to realize your actual value and the abundance of options that you have. But someone who has spent their entire lives having a "one and only" or soulmate mindset would likely not focus on developing themselves but focus all their attention on the "soulmate" partner that will accept and correct all their flaws. Having this knowledge won't make break ups feel like the end of the world to you, it would be a sign that both of you aren't on the same page and would definitely not be a good fit. |
