- Imo state governor, Rochas Okorocha said it is wrong to link a particular tribe to a crime

- The governor said the linking of Fulani to killer herdsmen is uncalled for and unnecessary

- He also debunked the rumour that Imo state has a cattle colony

Imo state governor, Rochas Okorocha said it is wrong to classify Fulani herders as killers herdsmen.

The governor said a linking a particular tribe to a crime is wrong and a form of bigotry.

He said herdsmen who killed should be labeled as criminals and not linked to the Fulani tribe.

Okorocha made this statement while receiving the National Leaders of the Sacred Order of Cherubim and Seraphim led by its Supreme Head, the Prelate His Eminence Solomon Alao, at the Government House Owerri at the weekend, Daily Trust reports.

Okorocha said: “We cannot be calling Igbos kidnappers or 419ers or Niger Delta people terrorists or militants or Hausa people Boko Harams or Fulani people killer herdsmen because of the activities of few criminals from their areas. That is the issue. A criminal is a criminal irrespective of tribe or religion. We cannot allow certain sentiments to becloud our sense of reasoning."

He also debunked insinuations that Imo state has built cattle colonies, saying that what the state has is a cattle market located at Lokpanta in Okigwe.

NAIJ.com previously reported that the former governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) and Emir of Kano, Sanusi Lamido Sanusi, has called on Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association of Nigeria to fish out the killers herdsmen among them.

The Emir also lamented that all Fulani herdsmen are being classified as criminals which he claimed shouldn't be so.

Emir Sanusi urged Nigerians to avoid ethnic profiling whenever a crime was committed, noting that “criminals have no tribal marks.”
