You need to find a mature Christian and be accountable to him at least till your ordeal is over.

Very many Christians pass through this phase; some were crushed, while some came out stronger.

One thing I'm sure is that this is a passing phase: it won't last forever.

You know what you're hearing is from God IF it's in complete harmony with the mind of God, as expressed in His Word--the Bible.

In fact, God doesn't say new things to anyone except that which He has already covered in His Word.

I'd give you an example. When God wanted to admonish me about the dangers of deceit and lies, He did so in form of a dream though not really like a dream. The thing is, a particular verse in the Bible (Psalm 101:7) just keep ringing in my head all night till I woke up in the morning, opened the said verse and saw what the message was all about.

This is just one of such cases.

Discerning if your thoughts are of God or yours.....this is a struggle for many believers, actually. You are not alone.

If this voice is asking you to do anything that will "kill, steal, or destroy", it is most definitely NOT God.

...sadly, about 30 to 50 percent of people with schizophrenia fail to accept that they have an illness or comply with their recommended treatment.

Even matured Christians called and gifted in the prophetic ministry go through this phase regularly in their lives.

The reason is because hearing clearly is a function of several factors.
1. How tunned you are:
Your expectations, desire, focus on God, spiritual state , detachment from the world etc

We are bombarded with spiritual and non spiritual information everyday. The information overload we experience make us SHUT DOWN on most information and thus we allow only the important ones to filter through to us. That is the essence of focus.

2. How gifted you are:
A person with the gifts of prophecy, word of knowledge or discernment of spirits may be sharper than those gifted in other fields howbeit every christian and every giglft hears God (eg. Manifestations of the gift of helps may involve Gods leading to a particular person)

3. Distinguishing between source of information:
All spiritual information pass FIRST through our Spirit before it is channeled to our Soul(mind).
Unfortunately, the channel can also be used by
a. Our Spirit
b. The Holy Spirit
c. A demon

It is extremely difficult to distinguish between the voice of our spirit and the voice of the Holy Spirit. My personal opinion though is that we can trust information from our spirit as Christians.

The Acid test in isolating information from demons is:

a person hearing voices in his head perhaps needs to go to his local doctor who can then refer him to someone specialising with that specific problem
there is no need to feel uncomfortable about seeking improvemeny for your health

try praying to God in the quiteness of your mind
answers from God will also be quiet, not loud and not many voices, just one
God can answer in many ways, through thought, through something happening etc

being quiet you can distinguish between God's voice and others that shouldn't be there

I hope you understand what I'm about to say',,, the thing is God doesn't give special revelations again.... if he's giving any Revelation, it must have already been converted precisely in the BIBLE....

God doesn't speak (voice) into people's hears 1) it's not needed .... James told the Christians to "receive the engrafted word with meekness which is able to save your
soul" I don't believe God gives new revelations ...
