Many prospective international students, freemovers or exchange candidates often see the drafting of a motivational letter as a difficult task to execute in their efforts to secure admission into their institution of choice.

Yet, the importance of writing and presenting a well-documented motivational letter for admission purposes cannot be over-emphasised especially in a highly competitive admission selection process.

Many times, students fail to put in adequate thoughts and energy when writing a motivational letter which unknowingly to many has jeopardised their chances of securing admission into their desired university of choice.

After over 5 years of helping intending students evaluate and review their respective drafted motivational letters and seeing the common pitfalls many of them showcase in their thought process, it interests me to share with you my observations and tips on how you can sell yourseif to the admission selection committee through your motivational letter.

TIP 1: See a motivational letter as your selling point.

It is very important for prospective students to see their motivational letters as a strong selling point in their quest to securing an admission placement into their desired institution.

Much more than your good grades and academic records, the admission selection committee of top universities always show interest in evaluating students beyond their academic achievements.

Infact, it will shock many to know that a student who has no other value to showcase than good grades could get ignored for a candidate who has got a rich and more interesting non-academic experience especially in activities related to community service, volunteering and students union leadership roles....
