Non muslim ladies marry men from muslim background, who are of same faith with them or even still practicing Muslims. So whats new here?
That has never been a problem especially from Osibajos tribe (Muslim ladies also marry Christians in his tribe with no trouble or threats). Amosun's wife was the daughter of a christian clergyman. There was no noise about it. That has always been the way. I have female relatives who are muslims who married christians, their families are ok with it, and also vice versa
Why should Osibajos case generate special interest?

ANOTHER CASE OF KIDNAPPING AND FORCEFUL CONVERSION TO ISLAM OF MISS RUTH JEFFREY CLEMENT BY KANO STATE HISBAH COMMAND

Miss Ruth Jeffery Clement formally known and called as A’isha Musa is from Adamawa State of Nigeria and a 21 years old girl. She had an encounter with Christ through the Holy Spirit one evening on her way to Islamiyya School in Adamawa. She eventually gave her life to Christ, however, as usual, she was faced with immense persecutions from her guardian Mallam Musa who subjected her to all sorts of inhuman treatment.

When the torment became unbearable, Miss Ruth relocated to Kano in the year 2014 and eventually found herself in ECWA Church Naibawa Kano, where she introduced herself and the Church gladly accepted and adopted her. One Elder Jeffrey Clement voluntarily volunteered to adopt her and willingly housed and equally enrolled her into a tailoring school as well as literacy class.

On the 8th of February, 2018, Ruth went to her tailoring school as usual; however, four Hisbah Men blocked her at the entrance gate and took her to Hisba office at Sharada Kano. When it was 6:00pm, the usual returning time for Ruth and she didn’t come back, Elder Jeffrey Clement reported the matter to the Police at Naibawa Division and went back home.

At about 10:30pm he had a knock on his door and when he came out, someone introduced himself as Yusuf from Hisbah Board, Kano and deposited a letter of invitation to the effect that the Elder should report at the Hisbah Board on Friday being 9th February, 2018. On reaching there, He was asked to make a statement which he did and Ruth informed him that she was asked to frame him up by telling a lie against him that he forcefully kidnapped and converted her to Christianity a request that was promptly turned down by Ruth.

On noticing this, the officials of Hisbah Board then released the Elder and continue to detain Ruth in their custody. Ruth was eventually forcefully taken to the media (a radio house) and was compelled to renounce her faith against her wish and consent.

ECWA Kano DCC intervened by directing its legal team to do the needful and a letter of complaint was filed before the Assistant Inspector General of Police. Christian Lawyers Zone 1 Kano. The matter is presently under investigation by the police.

Christian Lawyers Fellowship Kano Chapter, CAN, Kano Chapter and Hausa Christians Foundation are watching closely for the outcome of the matter.

As we hope for justice to take its cause, we wish to call as well as request all of you out there to pray for Miss Ruth even as she stands firm with Jesus as investigation continues.

Please pray for the Christians in Northern Nigeria.

THE HISBAH BOARD is a creation of law under the Kano State laws. However, their actions have no legal backing as every citizen of Nigeria has the right to choose and practice any religion of his choice including the right to change the religion. This could be found under section 38 of the constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria and also under African charter on Human Right which was adopted by Nigeria.

Their actions are condemnable and we hereby condemn it. This inhuman act of the Hisbah against the Christians in Kano is not the first time. It happened last year in the case of Jamilu Bala.

This Hisbah in question are not recognized by the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, yet they get the backing of the Kano State Government to commit all sorts of atrocities against the Christians.

With a strong voice we demand for the Release of Miss Ruth Jeffrey. She has the right to choose and practice what she believes.
