I think the time is ripe for a website on Igbo proverbs that will classify them according to topic.
It will be open to contributors like in wikipedia.

In Ebira language, "orihi a a zu"; 'rain is falling' is similar to "miri ne zo";
'rain is falling'. I see an interconnection in Nigerian languages.

@rubi, How are these proverbs being passed on to the younger generation outside the country?
