Let have a discussion here;
For the past one month, we have this issue of reordering elections by National Assembly top on our national discuss.
Do you think reordering of elections has impact on who wins the elections?
Why?

By reordering it mean that,
Senate and House of Reps elections first.
State houses of assembly second
Governorship and Presidential third.

How does this increases or diminish the chance of the aspirants.
Discuss.
Who is scared of this reordering?

It has an impact in the event that the incumbent president is politically astute & wily with the foresight & savvy to get involved in the grassroot politics of most of the states - someone in the mould of Obasanjo.

Obasanjo had agents, moles and proxies in most of the states with which he could checkmate and indeed remove any errant governor. He could choose to maintain his own political structures parallel with that of the state governor, or he worked with them if they were pliable. That guy mastered Nigerian politics totally and he was never a puppet to any kitchen cabinet or mafia. . .

This is the type of discussion I like, it shows we still have brilliant minded ones amidst us. The reordering of the elections is a master stroke on the part of the Senate and they deserve to be commended for that. It is a move to checkmate a desperate President or Governor who is hellbent to perpetuate himself in power against the wishes of the masses or the electorates. Let's view it this way, if the Presidential Elections was to be first conducted, it would enhance a kind of bullying the structures in the States, local governments to work forcefully for the President emergence against all odds especially within its party framework with the belief that the other contestants (Senate and House of Reps alongside the State House of Assembly) can be massively rigged into power going by the turn out of the party Presidential representative at the polls which is nothing but pure fraud. On the contrary, if the Presidential or Governorship elections come last it is likely that automatic securing of the seat by the President or Governor is not guaranteed because it will be more glaring that the structures in the State and local governments that were hitherto supposed to work for him may not be in unison because of the uncertainty that awaits them in their yet to be conducted elections. I think the reordering of elections should be fully embraced

Thanks for your insightful analysis. If you are popular and ready to conduct a free and fair elections, then you should not be afraid of elections order. For me the National Assembly has taken the right step that INEC need to embrace for a free and fair elections. Democracies are built from the grassroot so elections need to start from bottom up. The grassroot.

If they like, they can fix NA election for January and presidential for December, Buhari will win I don't know about any other person. In fact, he would win if he contest under CNM

This is exactly what we have been saying. Conducting the other elections before the presidential election enable candidates be voted for on merits and popularity not using the influence of the already conducted presidential election to come to power. Most Nigerian electorates are not enlighten enough so they most likely vote for the party that has already won the presidential election. We shouldn't deceive ourselves, as far this country is concern, the outcome of presidential election has effects, whether positively or negatively, on the outcome of other elections.

I applaud the National Assembly on this laudable initiative. The presidential election must come last. I don't understand why the noise about this. Btw, in 1999, the presidential election came last

I think understanding the nitty gritty of Nigeria politics is important. the reordering of the general election by the national assembly is a great feat, the last time such happened was in 1998/1999 when the military organized the election.

if the election went on as proposed by NA, then we will witness political tsunami in major States that APC is the ruling party, because majority of the state governors roll to power on the wings of the Victory of Presidential election, for instance in OYO when governor Ajimobi was seeking Re-election, he campaign and court many groups or association that show support to his second tenure, but as soon as president Buhari won the election, my guy slow down campaign tins, because the waves of changes was seriously blowing and people care less about the candidates but the party in question.

But this forth coming election is strictly by popularity of the candidates not party. don't bin surprised if a candidate in KOWA party win a senatorial seat or Rep.
in addition the election may produce a new set of power broke those who are in touch with the masses and not Abuja base politicians that keep making noise here and there. The outcome of the NA elections may force President Buhari to make a new and emergency alliance if he intends to win the 2019 because those he may be banking on whether states or senators seeking Re-election may end up loss woefully.
