For a current student of a tertiary institution in Nigeria to still say good things of his/her institution goes to say that the op was not objective enough in his argument.
It shouldn't just be about the bad aspects else you will be wanting us to believe that there's nothing good about the institution and it's management which of course is impossible.
I guess you read it where the student said you should have posted pictures of the Girls hostel also. All full blooded Nigerian graduate know assuredly what hostels in Nigerian tertiary institutions can be like but yet this one said you should have posted a picture of the hostel. Meaning the hostel is in good shape.
My take is, the judgement of the op was one-sided.

The OP is a verry hungry blogger seeking for traffic at all cost by use of negativity. Your blog is doomed. Better look for something else to do. You can be a professional photographer and make more money but you have to get a good camera instead of using very poor chinco phone camera you used to snap those pic.

Alex Ekwueme Federal University Ndufu Alike Ikwo Ebonyi state prides itself as being a world class university claiming to provide a conducive environment for learning and research, but erects poor class academic structures as you can see in the images below. This clearly shows negligence by the university management and the government towards providing academic buildings that meet world standards. These buildings are barely two years old.

Meanwhile fresh student were made to pay extra N50, 000 tagged parent security levy before they are assigned matriculation numbers. The university management claims that the money would be used for infrastructural development since government money is not sufficient.

Take a look at the images below.
why name uni after those politicians why not a hall or a road they build in their life time.

let's bring our mind to reality op, actually I graduated from this school 2016. I was a pioneer students, the facilities we were entitled to was much than we expected, with our first Vc the school was really a world class with a projector, computer system, woofer, and other multimedia devices attached to each class room. we had one of the best cafeteria I ve ever seen in a school, a very nice portable and posh library, our joy was our computer lab with free WiFi and over 200 working systems, also the language lab that almost look like the internals of the Nigerian Stock Exchange, almost all sectors and department of the such has WiFi. but let the TRUTH be told, Nigerians generally lack maintainance culture, and also use of substandard materials in projects.

I DO NOT SUPPORT THE PROLIFERATION OF UNIVERSITY.

It is what is generating the poor standard we now have in our educational university.

Every Politicians that get to the top want to have a university at his own community. THAT SHOULD NOT BE!

In the southern african country of Botswana, they have fewer university and their standard is so good. but it is not so with Nigeria.

Today, the number of private university have doubled starting from the initial Igbenedion University Okada, Edo state, Benson Idahosa university Edo state, Madonna University, American University Yola etc.

I MAKE BOLD TO SAY THAT WE SHOULD HAVE SPECIALISED UNIVERSITY IN NIGERIA that is university that specialised ONLY in one field or program.

If it is medical face only medicals, if it is business administration or management courses let face business administration or management, if it is marine study face marine studies.

NIGERIA UNIVERSITY SHOULD STOP THIS PROLIFERATION OF COURSES THAT LEAD US TO NO WHERE.

All this Edwin Clarke University Kiagbodo, Delta state, Samuel Adegboyega University, Edo state, Caleb university, covenant university have come to add to the proliferation of our educational system.

WORST OF ALL, our graduates can not find jobs years after leaving tertiary school.

This Alex Ekwueme University only help to increase the number of MUSHROOM SCHOOLS IN NIGERIA as Ex-President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan set up the university for political reasons and nothing short of that.

Now the federal government is finding it very difficult to fund it.

SOLUTION AND SUGGESTION:
The way forward for this federal and state university to survive financial strangulation is for it to be merged with other federal unversity and let it run ONE SPECIALIZED COURSE ONLY

Let the federal government merge Alex Ekwueme university to UNIVERSITY OF NIGERIA, NSUKKA Or other federal institute as it will help to save cost and reduce federal government expenditure and let the university be restricted to a particular field of specialization.

The same thing goes with other federal university that was set up by Ex-President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan.

THE FEDERAL GOVERNMENT CAN NOT AFFORD SUCH A CAPITAL-INTENSIVE EXPENDITURE at this time of oil price slump in the international oil market.

Nigerian educational system generally is in shambles. Unfortunately, there is an illiterate priding himself as the President.

I challenge any supporter of the present government to quote me and enumerate 5 things Buhari has done to improve the educational sector

1. Giving more attention to teacher recruitment in the Npower scheme is a recognition of the severity of concerns in that area.

2. Free daily meals to pupils in primary schools, over 6.4 million pupils across 33,000 public schools currently participating in more than 20 states. That costs over N1.2billion weekly. Nigeria has one of the highest number of out-of-school children worldwide. This seeks to address that concern as well as concerns of malnutrition among children, which hampers learning. School enrollments have increased significantly with this policy. Records show over 20% jump in enrollments, the North West and North Central posted 10.27million enrollments in the last one to two years.

3. Digitalization and modernization of key JAMB operations for enhanced efficiency and effectiveness.

4. Approval of 6 new private universities, including PAMO University of Medical Sciences in Rivers state and Spiritan University in Abia state, to further ameliorate the problem of access to university education in the country.

5. Issuance of extra impetus to the NUC to monitor quality of courses offered by universities and withdrawal of licenses of noncomplying institutions.

6. Approval of take-off of the Maritime University from its temporary site in Kurutie, Delta state, to enhance specialized training and tertiary maritime education in Nigeria.

I am glad you sought to know, so you have it now. I could still list more if you want.

Thing is if you go to school to study biology. Please learn how to sequence DNA, learn how to use PCR, ELISA Technique, Tissue Culturing, learn all advanced molecular techniques, graduate with a good result and forget stress. If you are studying Computer Science learn C++, Phython, Java and the other numerous programming languages in school and forget stress.

We can deride the first class of a private uni all we want but if he learns the applications of skills in his discipline and is good at it, he would be sought after than the one who learnt only stress.

The Nigerian society is already very stressful as it is. Believe me we don't need to learn stress in school again(assuming stress is of any benefit) plus stress is not part of a university's mandate and should never be impacted.

Lastly Bill Gates, Zuckerberg did not go through "stress" to become who they are today. Entrepreneurs from Nigeria have not surpassed them with all of our lessons in "Stress".
Are there opportunities for learning these molecular biology techniques for students of public unis?

You think so? Having many Universities do not lower standards as long as NUC discharges their duty diligently. More so, Jonathan established these institutions not to score political points but to make sure each state of the federation has one federal university.

Have you taken cognizance of the number of Jamb applicants in a year? What is the current available space for placement? Do you know the number of Nigerian students going to school for example in Ghana and other African countries where the standard is questionable? How much do we loose in foreign exchange. The point, the more universities we have, the better the chances of students getting admitted.

In the southern african country of Botswana, they have fewer university and their standard is so good. but it is not so with Nigeria.

Who told you Federal Government is finding it difficult to fund the universities? Let us wake up from slumber!!! This is the mentality of most Nigerians who believe the story told by the Politicians painting the picture of empty treasury where as the money is continually channeled to private entities. Can we ask questions why billions of Naira dissappear without having accountability structure?

This is extortion in its high place, why will students pay #50,000 for security levy abeg, is he giving each student a soldier to guard?

FUNAI, recently renamed Alex Ekwueme Federal University Ndufu-Alike Ikwo is one of the fastest growing in Nigeria with a history of turning-out graduates that are globally competitive. That is why most parents and guardians want their children and wards to study in the University. In fact, the University insistence on zero tolerance to cultism, examination malpractices and other social vices makes it a heaven for serious-minded students through-out the country. It is because this great history of excellence and integrity that made the French Government to collaborate with the university, providing postgraduate scholarships to staff of the university. The partnership is a first of its kind in the history of Nigerian university system. If the university is not on the right trajectory the French Government would not have signed off on such laudable partnership with it. It is therefore unfortunate for someone to try to tarnish the image of the university through what you posted on nairaland. Even the webometric rankings of world universities have continued to acknowledge the successes of the university over the last 7 years it was established. On the area of infrastructure, the university is getting better, with modern roads with streetllights but because the you were trying to be clever by half you systematically overlooked those areas in pursuit of your jaundiced agenda. It does not matter what 5th columnist like yoy and their outside collaborators do, FUNAI is on its way to becoming a world-class university. World class is nothing just about the building but about the quality of its products- graduates to compete globally. Its about the functional knowledge and selleable skills which FUNAI offer, that are the difference. On the damaged roofs which you snapped, you will agree with me that there was a heavy rain and wind in the last 3 days which destroyed things around Ebonyi state, not just FUNAI and I know the physical planning Unit is rectifying them. If you are really a student, you would have been focused on the ongoing examination in the university instead of wasting your precious time in the social media. Remember, if you do not make it academically you would be shown your way out as was the case last year when over 200 students were expelled for poor academic performance. That is FUNAI for you and most of us students love it
