The Nigerian Police (formally the Nigerian Police Force) is becoming a really cool employment-wise. The salary is considerable. And you’re pretty confident you will get it at the end of every month. This is a post about the Nigerian police ranks and their salaries in 2018.

In total, the Nigerian police is responsible for the peace and order in the country. 16. Inspector General Of Police, (IGP)
The highest rank in Nigeria Police Force is the Inspector General of Police. He is appointed by the president and can be sacked by him also. The IGP is usually appointed on a four year term. He must leave office and the president will appoint another person to replace him when his tenure expires or if he is sacked. How can we say we are fighting corruption in the police with a structure like this? We can't fight corruption without addressing the root cause. Over to the authorities, do the needful and your anti-corruption campaign in the police will have a smooth sail.

Terrible. Then we wonder why they are corrupt and accept bribe. How are they supposed to raise a family with these meager wages? Go to developed countries and their police force are treated like demi gods and well paid with full health insurance, pension and discounts for just about anything they want to buy. I don't support corruption, but until the Nigerian police force is well compensated, we shouldn't expect much from them.

They are even earning more than civil servants plus the daily bribes. How come they look so miserable and mean?

The mind and mindset of Nigeria police officers ate twisted and full of turns that even if you pay them a million niara a day. They will still be incompetent and unprofessional.

A look at IGP and other top police officers will tell u more.

And we still ask why the Nigerian police force is so messed up and filled with crooks and criminals... This is your answer.



Anyway the police force is corrupt and even if you pay them #1m each, the bad eggs among them will always disgrace the force.

Meanwhile our senators de collect the same amount as meal allowance

This is no excuse, I am sure they earn more than some of the people they are extorting. Even their ogas that earn a lot will still extort you if opportunity presents itself. Those people are deplorable.

The lowest rank in the police is constable. A police recruit is simply a police in training. Even though that doesn't justify why they should be paid 9k, i just need to clear the misconception

How much are traffic wardens paid. There was a guy in Ilorin that joined the traffic department some years ago. He was neat, had clean and new clothes. These days, after like 3-4yrs, you could see the obvious frustration on the guys face and lack of job satisfaction. Most of them don't get promoted past the Sergeant cadre all through their career. Such a pity.
