In the photo below is a section of the Ojota Motor Park, Ojota, Lagos. In the background is a view of the mountainous Ojota dumpsite. This dumpsite is situated right in the middle of human activities and residence! Waste that are generated in several parts of Lagos and collected by the Lagos state Waste Management Authority (LAWMA) and their partner institutions find their ways to this location. This dumpsite is the chief cause of fetid stench around the Ojota/Ogudu/Ikosi/Oregun axis. The dumpsite has also been a cause for health concern to residents and business operators within that part of the state. So, considering the ominous health implications to citizens that populate that part of Lagos state, at what point would it dawn on the authorities that there is an urgent need to relocate this dumpsite? Or what do you think? Source: https://autojosh.com/ojota-dumpsite-urgent-need-relocation/ Lalasticlala Mynd44 Ishilove Marpol Semid4lyfe Obinoscopy Seun 5 Likes 1 Share

There is nothing wrong with the dump site. I personally rented house in the area because my wife loves the smell of the stench. There are other locations in Lagos you can relocate to. Leave the dump site for we residing there. One man's food is another man's poison 19 Likes 3 Shares |

The stench is something else. And right in the middle of civilization. It needs to be relocated. But to where? Will there be a willing host community? 11 Likes 2 Shares |

That is the most simplest mistake made by Ashiwaju, Entering into Lagos and the first thing you see is a refuse dump site and a very huge one for that matter. Relocation long overdue 13 Likes 1 Share |

And if they relocate it, what will happen to the people around the new site? The problem with Nigeria is that we still don't know how to manage wastes. We don't do waste segregation , we dont recycle. Anyone who can invest in waste recycling is on his way to Forbes list of richest Nigerian. 32 Likes 2 Shares |

You can't entirely blame the government, as this area may have exclusively been originally carved out to serve this purpose, but lagos ever increasing population density wld only mean that humans wld eventually encroach on this site, just as its swamps end up bin sandfilled, and areas under high tension poles re occupied despite warnings, dont be surprised that sooner than later people may even start building on the dump site itself 28 Likes 1 Share |

It shows the previous government do not have it in their agenda since they fly around and probably won't take them through that route. I passed through the place last night, the odour is unbearable. The one at Ring Road Ibadan has been relocated long time ago. May God help us. 1 Like |

The problem isnt the location. Its due to poor mgt practices. That spot was selected so that much needed attention be given to the waste products. Relocating to an isolated area wld be far worse than this 2 Likes |
