On Thursday, March 1, 2018, Google launched another feature to its search engine ‘New job search experience’ to help millions of job seekers in Nigeria find employment opportunities.

The search engine giant, Google shows its concern for the Africa job seekers by introducing a new job search experience designed to help job seekers find employment opportunities.
“Finding employment is still very difficult for many people,” said Google South Africa country director Luke Mckend. “With unemployment in South Africa so high‚ this new job search experience will help the millions of South Africans searching for new opportunities. We believe that the web allows anyone‚ anywhere‚ of any age‚ to grow their business‚ learn the skills they need to get a job‚ to grow in their career‚ become an entrepreneur or developer. This new jobs search tool will be a key driver for connecting job seekers to open opportunities..."

This new search experience I say will be a very helpful innovation allowing every person using their phone or computer to search on Google for job search to get streamlined experience while exploring, researching and finding relevant and local job postings.

“Users will be able to view at-a-glance details about the posting, such as job title, location, whether it’s full-time, part-time or an internship, as well as detailed information should a job be of interest.

Users can also use Google Maps integration for job search within a stated location, and if they are signed in, they can even see how long it will take to commute to the job from home.
To even make your job search easy Google added a GET ALERT button in order to get a notification for a new job opportunity matching your last search job description.

Juliet Chiazor the country director said due to the fact that this experience is an open ecosystem, Google invited all job sites, platforms, and employers both big and small to integrate with them and make their jobs eligible to display in the new jobs search experience. With this, any employer can integrate its content and job opportunities through an open structured schema.org web markup standards by Google support. in addition, Google is also collaborating with companies such as Jobberman, Job Mail, NGCareers, MyJobMag and other job resource websites to make this work.

This new search experience has finally help broken the existing job employment crises where only the connected applicant knows of the openings in the work-force, leading to many job seekers relying more on their well-connected relatives to place them or “refer” them to vacancies which of course will happen after giving them bribes, as a result, job vacancies ended up being awarded to people who are less qualified, leaving the well qualified but less-connected job seekers doomed to years of unemployment and after a while, they would outgrow the required job entry-level age.
The Seach Giant has brought back the old job opportunities information, however, in an advance and stressfree way. During the 90's the newspaper is the most informative means of knowing any job opening opportunities, and now all needed is to pick up your phone and search at any given time anywhere.

Google has shown its diligence and effort to fulfill and stand by the company's mission “to organize the world’s information and make it universally accessible and useful”.

In addition to  this innovation, Ehimuan-Chiazor further disclosed in Lagos during the launch of the new experience Google's decision to continue with the Digital Skills for Africa programme training for African youth with the aim of extending from one million trained between April 2016 and March 2017 to see 10 million youth trained by 2022 as well as 100 000 developers trained across the region.
