….They’re miscreants, says chairman

Lagos — CRISIS Thursday, rocked the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, in Lagos state as leaders of the party from Lagos East Senatorial District passed a vote of no confidence on the party chairman, Mr. Moshood Salvador, over his refusal to implement the party’s 65-35 percentage appointment agreed by Ahmed Makarfi and Modu Sheriff-led factions.

•From left, Lagos State PDP General Secretary, Prince Muiz Dosunmu; former Lagos PDP Chairman, Mr. Tunji Shelle, current Lagos PDP Chairman, Mr. Moshood Salvador; PDP Chieftain, Chief Bode George, Lagos PDP, Publicity Secretary, Barrister Gani Taofeek and a member of the BoT, Mrs Aduke Maina during the collection of Lagos PDP Secretariat key from the Commissioner of Police, Lagos State to open the Secretariat at the Lagos Police Command Ikeja.

But in a swift reaction, the party chairman dismissed the leaders, saying: “We don’t know the people you’re talking about. Our party is moving forward.

The All Progressive Congress, APC, cannot sponsor some miscreants to divide our party.

If anybody believes he/she can cause crisis in our party, it won’t work.”

The party’s local government chairmen gathered in Ikorodu to move a motion to remove Salvador from office, noting that they would converge next week to elect a new chairman.

They alleged that an agreement was reached that the Makarfi-led faction should be given 65 percent of appointment while Sherriff-led faction should be given 35 percent.

The party members, however, alleged that Salvador gave less appointment to Makarfi-led faction.

The former state organizing secretary, Chief Taiwo Kuye said they gathered to mount pressure on Salvador to implement the 65-35 agreement but since he (Salvador) refused, “Salvador must go and he is gone already.”

Also, the former deputy chairman of the party in the state, Chief Ola Apena said, “We must go back to 65 percent.

The fight has just started. Salvador is a saboteur. He did not want Chief Bode George to be the National Chairman. He worked against him (Chief George).
