I know what am saying,if the man happens to be a public figure or a wealthy person in the society, they wouldn't treat him like a trash. Those people that took him to the hospital probably knew that he was still breathing. Some doctors can be heartless.
In other words, the guy was still alive and the doctor lied.. smh for u

So they came to gate at 10:25:34am, the Doc came to see them at 10:29:12am and immediately certify him death at 10:29:40am . Under how many seconds and he's almost inside his office by that 10:29:40 time oo. The man needs to be arrested undecided

You have even helped the doctor. That’s under 5mins. He probably did a lot of things apart from certifying the patient death among which could be;

He explained the person was dead.
He counsel them on what to do.
They wanted to fight him.
He pacified them.
He walked away.

That should take more than 5mins self.

Manipulations are much in this country.
I have already believed the story until I saw those pics:
In the first pic, the guy carrying the victim was being denied entry, it is obvious. Well let's assume that's the procedure.
In 2nd pic, the hospital was forced to call a doctor to check/ attend to the victim, either dead or alive. After 4 minutes interval and much pressure.
In 3rd pic, the doctor returned to his office immediately he confirmed the victim dead (according to him or his assumption).
In Nigeria generally, nobody wants to take risk as responsibility. I think because of the nature of our system, the security agencies will not give you paece if u make any mistake in the process of taking huge risk to save life, orelse you have a solid background. The law of the land does not make provision for you to take risk of saving a life beyond your jurisdiction, saving a life ia not prioritised on every other protocols. The effect of this ia that no one wants to take unnecessary responsibility which makes saving a life equal to taking a huge risk. A lot of people are wallowing and languishing in the prison right now and nobody is watching their back, just because they tried to save a life!
Morals: A victim was (assumingly) rescued from a scene of accident. The hospital denied them entry for good four minutes that would have saved a soul. A doctor came out after much pressure and threat to burn the hospital if they don't attend to the victim (do they really need to threaten a hospital b4 they take up their responsibility in a sane country).
Then, how are we even sure the victim has even dropped dead while the Dr carried out a test under 18 seconds shocked. The way I am looking at that scene, the doctor was under pressure, thereby, he did not carry out the test with serene/sound mind, he did not even bother to give the victim a space to come back alive (even if he had died or was in comma). They did not even allow his assumed corpse to rest because nobody wanted to take responsibility. And unfortunately, they rejected the assumed corpse during that moment of commotion.
Assuming the hospital heard that the victim was a president son, would they have treated him like that?
Anyway, I don't blame the hospital but our system that is not seeing life of a common man as sacred.

Is it proper for a doctor to certify a patient dead at the entrance of hospital gate?
Yes ma, it's proper. That is if the doctor has at least a pen torch and a stethoscope. With these at least, clinical death can be confirmed. Take for example where dozens of accident victims are brought to the Emergency, during triage, such is not only possible but appropriate.

"...30 seconds" doctors like you are the type that end up certifying a living person dead, just because you couldn't find a pulse, whereas the poor individual was just in some sort of coma they would have recovered from
I see. What sort of coma stops the heart and respiratory system for a stretch of time? What sort of coma makes a patient present stone cold and with muscles already stiffening? What sort of coma fixes the pupils and makes patient present with other signs of brainstem death? That must be an amazing coma!

Management of patients starts from the entrance into the hospital. It can start while the patient is still in the car, considering the urgency. If at that point the patient is dead already, then you make your verdict. So, yes, it is possible. Certifying someone dead is not a ceremony, it takes less than 2 minutes to do so.

Sorry about your loss. Health workers are only accountable to people officially under their care. Unfortunately, we are in paucity of medical personnel in Nigeria compared to our population. Secondly, the emergency rooms of the public hospitals are almost always saturated with patients such that they available health workers limit themselves to the ones already under their care whom they MUST account for. Anyone outside the emergency room and not yet received by the team on duty, perhaps due to no bed space, is on his/her own.
My advice: If you get to a public hospital on an emergency note and they tell you no bed space, pls get to another hospital as soon as you can

A lot of Nigerians are always in a haste to come out and bash the doctor for every attrocity commited in the hospital including commited by a mortuary attendant because everybody that puts on a white coat within the hospital is assumed to be a doctor. Funny enough most of these people that come out in d social media to spill trash based on there very little knowledge of pulse rate are people that wanted to study medicine but were not intelligent or patient enough or even hardworking enough to sail through, so, everything about a doctor simply irritates them, they have chosen not to be happy and fullfilled in life. It's a personal choice anyway, so you will just die with it. Now let me state that even in saner climes management of medical emergencies starts even from the sight of injury where they have good and adequate paramedical and ambulance sytems. Even in teaching hospitals, when an unconscious patient is brought to the Emergency wing, the first thing the emergency officer does is to check whether a patient is stil alive or not, and a doctor doesnt need any knowledge of rocket science to do that. You just need to check the vital signs of this patient. Now even in most teaching hospitals its even the nurses at the emergency unit that does that. Please there are no two ways about that patients that are dead on arrival are termed Brought In Dead (BID) and should be taken to the morgue and not admitted into the hospital. A whole lot of Nigerians are fond of patronising quacks, prayer houses, herbalists, etc even at a more costly rate because of there hatred for doctors yet when the chips are down, they still rush down to the hospital expecting you to do magic. It's worthy of note that nigerian doctors are one of the best all over the world no wonder they do exploits when they find themselves in saner climes. Nigeria is a very difficult place to practice medicine because we have very dishonest, ungrateful, hateful and impatient patients. The earlier we start learning to appreciate our doctors even more than our pastors and priests the better for us, because, they do a lot of things, I mean a whole lot of things for us behing the scenes just to get us treated. The blames should be channeled to the government that has failed to provide the necessary facilities and equipments, these doctors you insult at every point in time are forced to improvise and think outside the box to keep you alive. Unfortunately the quacks are takibg advantage of this hatred and a lot of people are perishing for lack of knowledge. Please ask your leaders to equip the hospitals and make good policies that will favour Nigerians so that every Nigerian will have access to quality and affordable health care.

PRESS RELEASE:

MALICIOUS, UNSCRUPULOUS & UNVERIFIED ALLEGATION MADE BY SEGUN ARINZE AGAINST DOREN SPECIALIST HOSPITAL AJAH

The attention of our organisation, Doren Specialist Hospital Ajah, has been drawn to the malicious, unscrupulous, and unverified statements and images made by Mr Segun Arinze and shared by him on his social media handle in respect of a man whom he falsely alleged was refused medical attention by our hospital.  The facts of the matter are:

1. The said man was rushed to the hospital on 21st February 2018, at about 11 am by a group of people who gave a history that he was electrocuted.

2. A doctor from DOREN Specialist Hospital promptly assess the man and certified him DEAD AT PRESENTATION.

3. The people who brought him were informed that the man was dead and were advised to take the man to a morgue since the hospital does not run mortuary services.

4. The people who brought the dead man rather than take the corpse to the morgue, resorted to create a scene and disrupt the operation of the hospital
Please note that We at DOREN Specialist Hospital as a point of duty, attend to all emergencies as they present and do not put cost as a prerequisite for first aid treatment to be administered.

Having said this, our media team and some concerned (unbiased and truth loving) Nigerians swung into action to address Segun Arinze’s post on his page and he took it down.  We even engaged him privately to address his post but he turned to say that he is a public figure, we should talk to him on the public post.

Now that he has taken the post down, we are still battling with the ripple effect created by this unverified fake news.
To this effect, we demand that:

1. Segun Arinze should return to the same channel used to spread this fake news and tender an unreserved apology to the management and staff of the DOREN Specialist Hospital.
2. That at the same time he should publish his apology in the online media platform and at least two National newspapers.
3. That he reaches out to all the social platforms who are within his reach, who had re-posted and re-tweeted his fake news to withdraw their posts and tell the true side of the story.

It shouldnt take more than 30s even if the doctor is attending to another emergency he should leave that one and be there in less than 4 min.
Lets be fair in our judgement.
Hypothetically lets assume they brought their patient, meet the nurses, took some history, alert the doctor, the doctor use his judgement to triage and see if he should leave what he was doing to see the new emergency. Even typing this reply alone almost took me 4min. Abeg

All you are saying is based on assumption...what I am stating is facts based on the time stamp on the cctv; the time difference from the first pix clip to the second is a whooping 4 mins and in medical emergency cases, a lot can happen in 4 mins. They were not even ushered into an emergency room to await the doctor within the space of that 4 mins, they were left outside, arguing with a uniformed security personnel! What sort of absurdity is that?

Pray you don't be a victim of neglect because this case has neglect written all over it. In 60secs x 4, that victim should be in an emergency room with with health workers attending to him, trying to resuscitate.

It is proper to start attending to an emergency case right from the car park or even before arrival at the hospital. The prompt attention given by the Health professional as he is been received can make a difference. The issue is what happens if the patient was found to be dead? Do you still admit him?

You have to take into account that;

(1) healthcare is provided for the living person. There is nothing a Doctor or a nurse can do to improve the health of a person who is certified dead.
(2) This is a Private Hospital built and run through private investment and we all know what could happen is the dead body was allowed into the building. It would be abandoned and the hospital will waste its resources of time, space and money trying to sort out the case.

The grouse is not on the doctor but on the hospital. Kindly go back to the pix clips and check the time difference between the first pix (when they brought him in) and the second pix when he supposedly got certified dead. Its a whooping 4 mins! That is what Segun Arinze was saying, they were left outside to argue with hospital securities with no attention given to the victim for 4 mins. So theres a possibility that he was still very much alive when he was brought in but the delay in attending to him led to his death.

The hospital mgt must have been upstairs viewing the scene within that 4 mins and accessing the quality of cars and personnel bringing in the victim. I am sure that if there were SUV's and posh cars, they would have attended to him almost immediately.

Something is definitely wrong with our Healthcare system in Nigeria. I get it that medical people here have are defending the action of the hospital but my question is this. Would the hospital have treated Yusuf Buhari like that even if the blind can see that he is dead. Would they have confirmed if he is alive at the gate of the hospital? If the answer is No. Then this country is not for all of us.

If Yusuf Buhari comes to your house and a poor barrow pusher comes to your house, would you in all honesty treat them the same way?
