Funny thing is that it's those that voted him into power that the tax increases will affect the most.

Any tax increase will immediately trickle down to the poor masses
Of course yes, if the landlord pays the land use charge, then the tenants should be ready to reimburse him/her with MORE!

I'm still trying to make sense of this new law. Is the governor crazy or just plain ignorant. Who did he consult with before enacting such? He forgets he won't be in power forever and the numerous properties he is currently acquiring will have to pay these fees too.

Then 90% of landlords and developers should be ready to remove their wards from school too because it will become a vicious circle.

Landlord increases rent
Schools increase school fees
Iya Basira increases tomatoes and pepper
Emeka increases price of spare parts
Bode increases labour cost of fixing your car

...and the list goes on.

Don't be deceived. It will affect everyone.

Lagos! A chaotic city with electric wires criss-crossing overhead and underneath, refuse heaps everywhere and miserable humans everywhere. Thank God I'd fly from Melbourne to Enugu and reach home neatly without passing through some horror.

Say no to moving afonjas to Ibadan and osun state.
Good morning lagosians
A simple forensic look at those pictures revealed that those people protesting are Igbos, originally from potopoto republic. Since they have abandoned their erosion ravaged republic and could not be able to go back, they feel the new law is direct attack on them, and so they have to stage publicity stunt in the name of protest to garner public sympathy.
True talk, their brother have actually bought the booze.
Ambode given Igbos, aka developers, bitter pills since time immemorial Lagos became no man's land!

Not everyone but those who have nothing to increase e.g civil servants who are tenants and those who are jobless

NaijaNewsPapers:
Unknown group protest in Allen Roundabout, close to government house Ikeja to kick against the enforcement of the recent increase in the land use charge by Lagos state government.

The group protest, saying that the masses would be greatest victims of the ‘wicked policy’.

The group also appealed to well-meaning Lagosians to reject what it described as the anti-people and wicked increases in the Land Use charges imposed by the exploitative Ambode Lagos Government.

Poorly written article. Why didn't they explain what land usage charges are, why ambode supports it and why the people are protesting against it. This is supposed to be journalism for goodness sakes.

Don't mind him! Ambode's cabinet is filled with bloody liars! angry They saw that the news of their nefarious plans to increase vehicle registration fees leaked, so they decided to postpone the increase. I dare them to go ahead with the increase, and see how Nigerians shuttle en masse to Ogun state next door, to register their vehicles without stress! sad

The protesters forgot to add that Ambode increased land surveying charges from 80,000 naira per plot to almost 700,000 naira per plot, last year!

In just one year he has increased the following charges:

1). Land surveying fees

2). Lekki toll gate fees

3). Water rates by Lagos State Water Corporation

4). Borehole charges

5). Land Use Charges

6). Court filing charges at Lagos State high courts

And I hear he also increased Radio/TV license fees, too. Na only im waka come? shocked The greatest insult they added to our injury, was when his Commissioner of Finance Akinyemi Ashade lied that they consulted widely and severally with the public, before increasing LUC. Guess who they consulted with? House of Reps members. Those were the people they consulted with. Ask Asade if they know the last time the House of Reps members visited their constituencies, or held any dialogue with them. Ask Ashade if the House of Reps members will be the ones to pay the LUC fees, on behalf of their constituents.

The lousy joker in the House of Reps who represents my area in Lekki has gone missing in action for over 2 years. Nobody even knows what he looks like. And that is the clown that Ambode's commissioner is claiming he consulted. mtcheew!
