Malaysia Starts Regulating Cryptocurrencies Today

Malaysia’s finance minister Lim Guan Eng said on Monday that his country “will regulate initial coin offerings (ICOs) and the trade of cryptocurrencies,” he also explained that the order to regulate cryptocurrencies and initial coin offerings as securities has come into force. It is necessary for crypto service providers and exchanges to obtain approval from the country’s Securities Commission, which will work with the central bank to ensure compliance.

The order is known as “the Capital Markets and Services (Prescription of Securities) (Digital Currency and Digital Token) Order 2019.” Cryptocurrencies, ICOs and their related activities must comply with relevant securities laws and be authorized by the commission, the minister made clear.

Crypto Cards Are Legal in Russia, According to the Finance Ministry

Using cryptocurrency debit cards to pay for goods and services is not in variance with Russian law, Deputy Finance Minister Alexei Moiseev was quoted as saying by local media. He believes these transactions are legal as the seller receives the money in Russian rubles.

A number of crypto debit cards are recently available in North America and Europa. They are usually integrated with cryptocurrency wallets and payment platforms that allow instant conversion to fiat money and both online and in-store purchases as with any other bank card.

The Russian government is likely interested in cryptocurrencies as an alternative to the greenback. The current claims by an economist from the state-controlled Russian Presidential Academy of National Economy and Public Administration (Ranepa) that Moscow will soon invest heavily in bitcoin have been refuted by officials. However, Ranepa’s Rector Vladimir Mau shared his opinion that digital currencies have a future and “large development perspectives.”

Bitcoin Climbs up China’s First Crypto Ranking of 2019

The Center for Information and Industry Development (CCID), under China’s Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, released its ninth crypto project ranking update on Thursday. The center noted that this is the first update this year and 34 crypto projects were evaluated, unchanged from the number ranked in December.

The newest ranking upgrades BTC from the 18th place in the last month’s ranking to the 15th place. BCH rose from the 30th place to the 28th place.

The evaluation results show that EOS and Ethereum still firmly occupy the top two positions of the list. The center emphasized, adding that the Ethereum Constantinople upgrade is expected to be taken into account in the next evaluation cycle.

Ethereum Classic fell from the 15th place to the 19th place in the most recent ranking. The center made clear that “Ethereum Classic suffered a sustained 51% attack, which caused widespread concern, and the security of the public chain will remain a vital issue that plagues future development.”

With pizza being among the first items bought with bitcoin, it only seems fitting that we should start with a pizza delivery portal that accepts cryptocurrency. Pizzaforcoins is a service based in California where you can order from major chains such as Domino’s, Pizza Hut or Papa John’s.

Amsterdam-headquartered Takeaway.com accepts cryptocurrency on some of the platforms it owns in Europe. One of them is Germany’s biggest food delivery portal, Lieferando, gained by the Dutch company four years ago.

Lieferando.de, which works with more than 11,000 restaurants, added bitcoin core (BTC) to its payment lists in 2017, as news.Bitcoin.com reported. Because it uses Bitpay to process crypto transactions, the website now accepts bitcoin cash (BCH) as well. The same applies to its Polish subsidiary, Pyszne.pl, which partners with over 5,000 local restaurants.

Shuttle Delivery is a platform that brought in bitcoin cash (BCH) payments this past fall. It’s operating in and around the South Korean capital, Seoul. Shuttle Delivery allows BCH users to order food from over 200 restaurants in the area and pay for the meals with peer-to-peer electronic cash.

When Hungry is the international brand name of a young Russian food delivery service which is trying to conquer European markets such as Germany and the Baltic states. The platform, known in Russia as Хочу Поесть (Want to Eat), currently made known it’s accepting payments in ethereum (ETH) and its own digital token called WHY.

Germany and Poland are Takeaway.com’s second and third biggest market respectively. The company now operates 14 popular food delivery portals. Its other major platforms, containing Takeaway’s Swiss edition and its original site in the Netherlands, Thuisbezorgd.nl, accept bitcoin.

Over 50 Bitcoin ATMs Operate Legally in Russia, Study Finds

At least 51 cryptocurrency ATMs operate in agreement with the recent regulations in Russia, estimates a new report. According to the study produced by the country’s crypto industry association, the average monthly turnover of each of these teller machines is around $27,000.

The number of bitcoin ATMs around the world has doubled in a year, increasing at an average rate of six per day to reach almost 4,300 devices, according to the biggest data provided by Coinatmradar. Most of these crypto teller machines are situated in North America and Europe.

Russia is in the top 10 countries by number of BATMs, according to a study conducted by the Russian Association of Crypto Industry and Blockchain (Racib) and the IT company Nanobit. 51 of the installed devices are registered and in full agreement with the recent Russia law.

Wyoming Senate Passes Bill Recognizing Cryptocurrency as Money

The Senate of the U.S. state of Wyoming has passed a bill which defines cryptocurrency as property and establishes rules including for allowing banks to provide crypto custodial services. For secured transactions,nevertheless, the bill identify cryptocurrency as money subject to some of the same rules as money in the state.

The bill was brought in Jan. 22. It passed the first reading on Jan. 29, the second reading on Jan. 30 and the third on Jan. 31. It was introduced to the state’s House of Representatives on Feb. 1.

The bill categorize digital assets under Wyoming’s existing laws as “property within the Uniform Commercial Code (UCC).”
