I must say this is a beautiful project. I hope the can maintain it.

Now, to answer your question. Well, as for me, and looking at the photos, all I see are the building and interlocking tiles.

So, the main cost will be on the building and the interiors. If I was to quote to build this bus terminal, I will quote N100million.

However, any government contractor that wish to win such a contract should also include in his quotes monies for kickbacks and bribes.

So, at the end of the day, such a project might turn out to cost tax payers about N5billion.

This is the very sad reality in Naija.

You can build this place with N100m in Lagos, my friend which other project have you built on such a low budget? N100m will not even complete the main building alone.

Do you know what I am bothered about? shocked The ability of the state govt and its agencies, to sustain and maintain this terminal over a long period of time, to the high standards of cleanliness and functionality, shown here. undecided

Such an edifice would soon be launched with fanfare, and even fancier speeches. sad In 9 months, it would take the grace of God to meet this same terminal, in this pristine state. It is likely to have been defaced, distorted and riddled with all kinds of nauseating activities, that are capable to ruining the purpose it was originally set out to achieve. We need to put more effort into sustaining such projects or terminals, for good optimum performance. undecided
Exactly. The African man mentality of purchasing without maintenance. I never marvel at building projects in this country, the question I also ask is will they be maintained?

Naija politicians no get shame. To launch this capital project now, den go spend nothing less than another 200 milli (it might not cost more than 70 but you already know how things are run) ...Them don already cripple economic activities because den wan use scissors cut ribbon and now some fellow Nigerians who dunno better are jubilant ... If this were how the whole President they carry himself with tumultous crowd, shut down the whole city every time a capital project is to be commissioned in better climes, you think the citizens won't change it for him? Oya, how many times have you heard say one ordinary Mayor carry himself to go and be commissioning road projects or any infrastructural what have you...

Agreed. But that is not just on the state govt to do. The regular people need to imbibe a culture of pride in our commonly shared infrastructure. Everybody must be involved to maintain this project to see that it remains up to standard for a very long time to come.

Okay,

Can anyone please direct me to the Tender Advert by the Lagos State Public Procurement Agency in respect of this project as required (advertisement in daily newspapers) by the procurement law?

Can anyone direct me to the evaluation of the tender documents?

Does anyone know HOW MUCH this facility cost Lagos State Tax Payers?

But Buhari is coming to commission it and legitimise the fraud ba?

Why is that not surprising! Maybe he has seen the procurement documents....

Still wondering why our constructions always having the black and white painting by the curb

Good structure, but what about maintenance??

I think the government should get innovative with their public structures, they need to build something that will cost less to maintain considering the nature of the citizens.

The new Ikeja Bus Terminal, unarguably, is the most ultra-modern bus terminal in Nigeria.

This new transport infrastructure demonstrates yet another brilliance of the Ambode administration.

The Lagos State government developed the Ikeja Bus Terminal as part of the infrastructures for the Lagos Bus Reforms Project.

Upon commissioning, the bus terminus will serve as the hub of all transport activities within the Ikeja Zone.

The Ikeja Bus Terminal was designed to serve over 50,000 passengers daily and providing access to many destinations including Ojota, Oshodi, Maryland, Obalende, Agege, Ogba, CMS, Iyana-Ipaja, etc.

The Ikeja Bus Terminal features facilities befitting of a modern bus terminus. These facilities include Waiting Areas, Ticketing Booth, Loading Bays, Information Centre, Food Court, Taxi Rank, Passenger Convenience, Operations Control Centre and an ATM Gallery amongst many others.

Nigeria’s president, Mohammadu Buhari, is expected to do the official commissioning of the Ikeja bus terminal tomorrow.

So, considering that the land that this bus terminal belongs to the state government, if you were to quote as a contractor to build this imposing and impressive infrastructure, how much would you quote to build it?

That's mesmerising! Now let's get the rail done. It's very important.
I'm worry about Lagos overpopulation in few years. It's going to be extremely exhausting city for the poors even some rich folks wont be left behind.
Get that Lag-Ib rail project done. It's extremely important as well.
The influx of people from rural to urban is crazy these days i can't stand it..
The government need to start working(rural as well) otherwise the urban will be densely congested and Lagos is heading towards that even worse..
Nigeria must progress!

A few metres from this bus terminal is MM2, a terminal for aircrafts. Its by far bigger and trickier to manage but guess what, the moment it was built and commissioned it was concessioned to a private company and its a success story till date. Not only has it been properly maintained, it has also been improved to meet with best practice and standards, it attracts good patronage and in consequence good financial returns to government.

Same should happen with this bus terminal.

MMA2 was built from scratch by Bi-Courtney Aviation Services Limited (BASL), which carried out that project as the country’s first successful Build, Operate and Transfer (BOT) concession, in the aviation sector, after the domestic terminal of the old Murtala Muhammed Airport, Lagos, went up in flames in 2000. The concession was awarded to BASL which funded the entire project, without govt funding in 2003. That airport opened for operations in 2007. undecided

The story is different from that of the new bus terminal, which was conceived and built with govt funds, using govt agencies and contractors. sad

Most govt owned buildings and projects are hardly ever well-maintained, due to inadequate funding, poor monitoring skills and poor adherence to maintenance programmes.

So it is really too early to compare the management and operations of MMA2, which was built through a BOT arrangement, (and is currently being managed by a private firm), with the management of this new bus terminal, that is still solely under govt control undecided.

Anyway, I hope they eventually take your advice and concession the bus terminal to an experienced private management firm, to run and maintain for a fixed number of years. I also hope they will not repeat the Visionscape fiasco, when they eventually decide to engage a private company to manage it. sad
