Professor Idowu Olayinka, the Vice Chancellor of the University of Ibadan on Wednesday revealed that the institution would expel about 328 students for what he called ‘shameful academic results’ in the recently concluded 2016/2017 academic session.

The UI’s Vice Chancellor, in a statement made available to newsmen in Ibadan Wednesday blamed the situation on the absence of Post-Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination test before the affected students were admitted.

Olayinka revealed further that the university compiled the list of the affected students following the “meeting of the University Senate held on March 19 and 20 to deliberate on the 2016/2017 academic results of the final year and non – final year students.”
He said the affected students did not meet up with the minimum condition approved by the university Senate.

He said, “One out of every nine of the 100 level students did not meet the minimum condition to retain their studentship,” he said.

UI is blaming it on the fact that ppl from that set were admitted without post ume. Apparently UI now believes that jamb isn't credible to be an exclusive source for ranking students.

If 328 student is all you have to expel among thousands you admitted for 2016/2017 section, then suspension of Post UTME is not the problem...

Just admit that u and ur colleagues missed being enriched by the bribery and corruption, runs, nepotism and the extortion in d name of PUTME reg fee that PUTME avails you

I do respect UI for this. When they see u arent up to the task to fit into their system, they show you the way to your house.

Invariably, they have been on probation for more than one semester which is the threshold, hence they leave the school for the serious minded.
This is not a new development in tertiary institutions.

No be every student wey dem pursue for school no dey serious.. Some students read very well and regularly go for lectures just like every other student just that their heads no just carry book at all

Like in my school, de give students 100 obj questions in thermodynamics to answer in 2hrs... U will understand if u know this course... Sumtimz is not actually the students fault...
