I strongly disagree.Check the history of world cup competitions,u will discover that there were many countries who have boycotted the competitions due to diplomatic impasse.If the govt officials won't go as u said,wot makes u think that any sensible govt will then send their national team to a place where they believed their security is not guaranteed.The players themselves are govt 'officials' n 'ambassadors' because they rept n fly the govt flag.It is not only Iceland, oda european states that are British allies are also contemplating boycott.Going by Theressa May tough stance on this issue,England may not also likely go.Do u ask why EPL of all leagues in de world does not produce even a linesman in de mundial?My submission is dat,if the govt officials are not going,the players are not going also.As for FIFA,de only thing they can do is to sanction them if they still maintain their stance till den.
