Pale blue dot was a concept by Carl Sagan to show just how small, fragile and I would say insignificant our planet is. He was the chief consultant to the voyeger missions, a mission to send space probes to the outer planets and their moons and then send them them outside our solar system into the vast unknown of the universe, travelling forever carrying a message from us to anybody or anything out there.

Carl Sagan insisted that at the outer fringes of our solar system, just before the probe takes off into the vast unknown of the universe, voyeger 1's camera should turn to the earth and take one last picture. That picture shows the earth as a little speck of pale blue dot. The picture itself became famously known as the Pale blue dot.

The earth is that tiny speck being shown by the arrow.
