Governor of Ekiti state, Ayodele Fayose has reacted to the bank robbery at Offa in Kwara state.

The incident left 17 persons (according to official figures) dead.

Fayose wondered how the robbers operated freely without the intervention of the police.

The Ekiti governor tweeted: “I sympathize with victims of the Offa, Kwara State robbery that led to the death of over 30 people.

“It is sad that such a terror attack could go on for more than one hour and the robbers were able to escape. It is another clear vindication of the call for self defense.

“Killing of over 30 people in an operation that lasted for over one hour cannot be regarded as mere robbery, it is terrorism! It further shows that under this govt of President Buhari, the country is not secured and Nigerians are now at the mercy of killers. It is sad, very sad.

“I’m still wondering how long it will take Police Helicopters to get to Offa from Abuja or Lagos. Robbery operation lasted for over one hour and there were no police helicopters to trail the robbers? Are those helicopters owned just for decorations?

“Sad that these days, mass killings in Nigeria is no longer Breaking News, it has become a normal occurrence.

“Over 30 people killed in Offa and we are yet to see concrete action from the FG that controls security apparatus? Just imagine this happening in any European country.”

I wonder why a government like Kwara or the police department don't have an helicopter for emergencies like what happened at Offa. Imagine the police department sending calvary from Ilorin, that's more than 1 hour from Offa to address the situation in Offa. Such a shame on this country.

People will never really know what it means to live till they step out of this country, it's not all about being the wealthiest etc. One can still live right even on a middle-class income but the sorry-state of this nation is making it look impossible. I know our able president has enormous challenges to surmount and may God help him. I am very sure he wasn't the one who instructed criminals to go and rob those banks, that man needs our prayer for him to overcome. I still believe God will help him

This operation is the most dreaded one, in the history of bank robbery in Nigeria.

They most have spent over six month to plan the attack... And it is very annoying the police force has no counter attack plan for such an occurrence as this.

If it is to kill and harras innocent civilians the police are excellent at that.... I pray God deliver us from the terror of the day and night.

Governor Ayodele Fayose contributions on the Offa Bank Robbery in Kwara state only add up to the clarion call for the establishment of state police in Nigeria.

The 2014 national conference report stated very clearly that states in Nigeria are free to establish State Police so long as they can fund it. But the Muhammadu Buhari led Federal government is against the implementation of the content of the 2014 national conference report even though restructuring was in the APC manifesto.

If state is allowed to set up their own police force, it will help to quell internal security threat.

The Offa Bank Robbery is one but too many robbery incidents that have claimed many human lives in Nigeria.

The Federal government in conjunction with state and local government must collaborate with the private sector in addressing graduate unemployment in Nigeria.

It is quite disturbing to see many youth unable to find jobs or gainful employment years after passing out of tertiary institutions.

The politicians in Nigeria keep building universities in every nook and cranies in Nigeria most likely with money suspected to have been sourced from looted public funds.

NOBODY IS THINKING ABOUT WHERE THIS SCHOOL LEAVERS WILL WORK AFTER GRADUATION.

In Europe and Other western democracy their government plan and make projections for job creation. But that is not so with government in Nigeria. The high level of corruption makes it challenging creating jobs to engage our youth gainfully in Nigeria.


Jobs for youth is a national tasks which all successive government do not derail from no matter their party ideology in western democracy of Europe.

Leaders in Nigeria keep deceiving the masses with over saturated skill acquisitions program for their failure to create jobs.

If any lesson need to be learnt from the Offa bank robbery it is the need for the Nigerian political elites to change their mindset towards achieving an egalitarian society that is progressive and productive.

It is not farfetched to state here that some of the high profile robbery which have taken place here in Nigeria have been masterminded by these our neglected universities graduate.

Politician set up tertiary institution with looted funds without even thinking that their graduate will need jobs to settle Down.
