Shehu Sani, Senator representing Kaduna Central district in the National Assembly has reacted to President Muhammadu Buhari’s intention to run for a second term.

President Buhari on Monday revealed his intention to run again at the closed-door meeting of the party’s National Executive Committee (NEC). He said he wanted to seek re-election in response to the clamour by Nigerians for him to do so.

He also told the party’s NEC that he wanted to give them the honour to notify them first, of his second term ambition.

Reacting, Sani in a tweet said,”Now that Baba decided not to be a Mandela,we hope he become a Deng Xioping and not Augustus Pinochet Agarte.

Why is this decision by one man becoming a priority of discuss all over? Buhari like every other Nigerian who meets d requirements has the right to run/contest for any political post. (Tho Buhari doesn't have a certificate sha).

The issue is if majority of the people do not want him back, the talking should be done at the polling units, in d ballot boxes, not online.

Yesterday I was on Garba Shehu's page on d announcement of Buhari's decision to rerun, over 800 comments and just about 4 (some hausa names). were in support of Buhari, the remaining 800+ were insulting Garba Shehu, APC and Buhari... But unfortunately maybe 600 of those people do not have their PVCs and millions of almajiris and oda northern kids n adults have their PVCs waiting to reelect d man, we don't see dem online cus they are poor n can't afford phones to argue online..

Buhari is very much entitled to run.

Those telling him not to are simply passing a subtle message which meaning has eluded him and apparently you as well.

Nigerians have invested heavily in the APC and it's mantra of change, choosing it over the PDP. They have been bitterly disappointed in the results. They are reluctant to see the party waste it's opportunity on this old senseless tribalist that calls himself a president.

If the APC were acting rationally with foresight and vision, its leadership should have fought to preserve it's bond with the people by forcing Buhari into retirement just as Zanu-PF did to Robert Mugabe and the ANC did to Jacob Zuma.

Buhari's chances are low his only real hope is a divided opposition. Any half decent candidate will defeat him in 2019. Eminent nigerians were calling on Buhari not to run because it would waste an opportunity, but stray dogs don't hear the hunters whistle
