A 25 year old Nigerian lady, Chiamaka Deborah Motilewa has been awarded a PhD degree at the Covenant University, Otta making her the youngest PhD holder to be ever produced from the University.



Chiamaka Deborah Motilewa is a graduate of Dublin Business School, Ireland(BA), University of Aberdeen, Econs(MA) and Covenant University where she had her Doctoral degree in Business Administration.

The obviously excited young lady took to twitter to make the announcement.


The Jos-born erudite hails from Kogi State, although her mum is from Anambra state. She later moved to Lagos with her parents where she attended Chrisland Primary School Ikeja, and Chrisland College Idimu.

She then proceeded to Dublin Business School, Ireland where she had her BA(hons) in Accounting and Finance (2011) and an MSC(Econs) International Business, Energy and Petroleum from the University of Aberdeen, UK (2012).

According to information on the Covenant University website, Chiamaka is a lecturer at the Business Administration department of the university.





Her profile on the website reads:

Motilewa Bolanle Deborah is a versatile professional lecturer, researcher, business developer and project manager. She has positioned herself to meet increasing demand for quality in education, research and business development.

With over three years experience as a post-secondary lecturer, Motilewa has imparted business knowledge and character development in various post-secondary students.

Her research focus is on Corporate Social Responsibility, entailing how business organizations can gain competitive advantage in the highly competitive business world through strategic corporate social responsibility that is in line with the organization’s vision, mission and objectives.

She is the founder and co-coordinator of REEP Africa (Renewable Energy and Electrification Project, Africa), an organization promoting the use of renewable energy as a sustainable source of energy in developing countries.

She currently lectures: Introduction to business, International management, financial management, principles of management, research methodology, oil and gas marketing and analysis of business making decisions.

She is presently the secretary of special duties, and seminar and conferences committees in the Business management department of the University.

Nigerians and tribal fights. If I was president I will stop interschool debates and replace it with inter tribal intellectual competitions. Nigeria will develop faster that way. Imagine a Yoruba vs Hausa industrialization competition or Igbo vs Ijaw crude oil refining competition. Chai Nigerians.

This isn't the first person I have heard who graduated from the UK to come and do higher degrees in Covenant university. It seems that school is gradually becoming a powerhouse since it now attracts graduates of foreign universities. They just need to drop religious extremism which they put the undergraduates through and they might be competing favorably with foreign universities. Plus they would be saving Nigerians a lot of foreign exchange...kudos to CU for also retaining her as a lecturer.

You are sort of right. Covenant wasn't always this conservative tho. I heard it was an issue of cultism nearly rearing its head-some cultists from OAU found visiting their colleagues in CU during the early 2000s that made Oyedepo steer the university on a seclusion, exclusion path.

He banned phones to isolate the students from what he saw as external bad influences, stopped admitting people above 21. And till today Covenant would never take a transfer student from any other school talk more of a Nigerian university.


But the university is gradually liberalising though. These days if you go for an Intl conference in cu you would see hijabis everywhere, from northern nigeria, middle east which was probably not possible sometime ago.

Not that I am having bad belle for her but the girl started early she is obviously from a wealthy home hence her ability to have a PHD at 25 go abroad and attend an expensive private university.

She studied abroad no ASUU strike,no writing of JAMB up to five times so why won't she get it at a young age.
