How To Grow Your Income In Nigeria. by IpnNaija: 12:40pm On Apr 30, 2018
Every Nigerian at one point or another is on the search for extra streams of income. Minimum wage is low, the economy isn’t all favorable, exchange rate is always on the increase and lots more. Maintaining a decent lifestyle in the midst of all these gets tougher by the day but you can rise through it all. Whether you’re employed or not, growing your income with the tested ways below will enable you live a comfortable life of your dreams in Nigeria.

1. Treasury Bills
They are more liquid instruments that can be easily sold off and converted to cash if need be. Treasury bills are issued by the Federal Government of Nigeria, through the Central Bank to provide short term funding for the government. It is literally a zero- risk investment.
Treasury bills are issued for 91days, 182days or 364 days. They can be bought at banks by filling a form to indicate interest and also indicating the likely interest rate you want to receive at the end of the investment tenure. The interest rate is not fixed but fluctuates based on demand and amount offered by the CBN, if you invest your interest is paid to you upfront and credited to your bank account. You’ll find more information on their website

2. Fixed Deposit (Banks)
If you have savings at the banks, you can make money from it via fixed deposits. Most Nigerian banks collect a fixed amount of money for either 30 days, 60 days, 90 days, 180 days or 1 year. You will have to do some further findings on what each bank pays as interests on fixed deposit before making your final choice. Also note that fixed deposit is not tax free so you will have to fork some money out from your interest to settle tax.

3. Leadway savings plan
Another credible savings plan that can guarantee extra income for you is the Leadway savings plan. It allows you to make monthly savings contribution of N10, 000 which accumulates interest at the term of the policy. It happens to be a safe, simple and easy way to save towards your dreams. This plan offers you guaranteed higher interest rates on your savings, access to loans and life insurance cover worth N1 Million. See more information here: https:///BKxGxA

4. Invest in stocks.
Once you have an eye for spotting a good commodity in the market and can predict wisely on whether to buy or sell, steady income is sure for you. If you have no experience ensure you work with a broker or brokering firm, this ensures you are well informed about the ins and outs of investing in the stock market and the Nigerian stock exchange. It will be very irrational to trade based on sentiments.
An example is buying a listed company’s shares N50, 000 at the price of 1.00 kobo per share, if the price appreciates to 3 kobo per share, you’ve made 3 times your money. You can thereafter sell giving you profit of N150, 000 from one trade. Some charges and commission may apply.

5. Real estate
Real-estate offers a lot of income potentials. You may have an idle space or building laying around when it can be yielding income and profit for you. Alternatively you can buy one or 2 plots of land at affordable rates in relatively developed areas, in a few years when the area is getting fully developed, you can put it up for sale or lease and get yourself some well-deserved income.
