Please forgive my grammar and punctuations, as I am no writer. Just trying to see what other people think.

I saw the movie three days ago and I had to admit, the producers followed on from where they stopped in Thor Ragnarok with the pun in the movie. I watched it like four times, laughing all over again at how funny some of the scenes were that I completely forgot where the storyline was headed. Then last night as I was about to go to bed, it hit me, and I thought, was Thanos really the bad guy? Thanos went to all the worlds and killed half the population; a crazy thing to do but he had a very simple explanation for it. Long time ago in his home planet Titan, the world flourished but they had a problem; it was getting overpopulated and the resources could no longer sustain the entire population. He came up with a simple idea to kill half the population at random, so no one would complain of losing too much but they called him a madman and later, he was proved right as Titan collapsed and perished.

This event gave him a renewed will to preserve life on every other planet no matter the cost and this set him on the part of finding the infinity stones. Now, we could portray Thanos as a cold blooded killer who loved nothing more than power, but we were proved wrong when he sacrificed his daughter Gamora to get the soul stone and even mourned her throughout the movie. Even Gamora herself was surprised he had tears in his eyes for her which showed just how much he loved her, but to save all of life, great sacrifices are needed and he didn't flinch as he threw Gamora off the cliff.

With the power the infinity stones contained, one would think he would use it to rule the entire universe and sit on a gold throne to rule as god like the Asgardians did, but he had a simple will; save the universe, and retire somewhere watching the sun set. Not so bad if you ask me and we have to agree, it was a noble cause. Now some critics would say since he had the infinity stones, he could do whatever he wanted with it like creating new planets and making sure the planets had enough food to sustain populations, but to what end is that? We will just keep multiplying exponentially and resources arithmetically until it could no longer sustain us.

It brings me to my point which is that we can all agree that we are killing the planet through overpopulation, pollution etc. Malthus population theory suggested ways to curb this growth like war, famine, disease and we just have to admit, the white men have it right by allowing abortions and same sex marriages as they are anti-population growth.

Now, if one man had the power to end half of all life at random to save the entire planet, should he be considered a villain? Not to me, and as far as I am concerned, Thanos was the real hero in the movie. He lost a lo trying to achieve something that does not even serve any purpose to him except preserve all life in the entire universe.

That's the most useless movie i saw this year, marvel keep doing these, keeping fans in suspense for box office revenue, useless set of pple, from the look of things thanos has not won yet doctor stringe has a plan and allowing thanos now was the one way avengers can defeat him later.. I think am sticking with #rampage, Dean of thieves as my best 2018 movie so far..

undecided no one even made an attempt to answer the op's question? No thanks to that 'Hater' on his period.

Well @ Josh64 you do make some valid points in reminiscing on Thanos not being the villain of the movie and should actually be seen as the 'Hero' of the movie.
But here's what you failing to see, his idea was morally/logically flawed and that makes him not just the Villain of Infinity War but a Psychopathic Villain at that . Let me expantiate

Take this scenario...

" A carpenter has the resources of making just 4 chairs ,and base on his resources he did make 4 chairs for some kids who would come visiting later on,unfortunately the kids who came visiting were up to 8 ,recall he made 4 chairs ,fortunately he stumbled on 'something' which granted him infinite resources, he only has one choice. . . "

Which is? Of cus make more chairs for the remaining 4 kids and so all 8 kids gets a chair to sit ,this is the only logical approach right?

But ohhhhhhhhh not Daddy Thanos smiley ,,if he was in the position of that Carpenter guess what he would have done? Fvckin Kill half the kids( kill 4 ,leave 4) so it would be 'Perfectly Balanced as all things should be' . (warning kids never visit a guy named Thanos).

You see how fvcked up that sounds? He literally has the Infinity Gauntlet that contains the Infinity Stones that started the Universe he could damn just increase the resources in the universe I mean he does have 'infinite' power to do it but no Thanos rather commits Genocide.

Thanos is the Psychopathic Villain of Infinity War who has the motivations of an insane man on steroids,,and if you think otherwise then there's something seriously wrong with your Moral code.

These oyinbo people have been putting this question to our face for a long time. They did it in the movie "2012", they did it with Samuel Jackson character in "Kingsman" and a lot of other movies. The issue is humans are killing the planet and while the western cultures have realized this and started steps to curb the one single menace of overpopulation by adopting checks like same sex marriages, abortions and even China adopted the "one child rule", our moral compass has limited us to nothing but overpopulate the whole continent that we now run to their place for sustenance.

As the character played by Samuel L Jackson in "kingsmen" put it, once a virus attacks a host, a power struggle ensues. Either the hosts kills the virus or the virus kills the host, either ways, the virus dies. I think you can guess who the virus is in this scenario. The bottom line still remains, Thanos sought for a permanent fix, and he found it. Iron man had knowledge and he built weapons and shields for himself, Asgardians built a city made of gold after pillaging planets and ruled over them from the sky, even avengers only pick the wars that suits them, even the Wakandas built a dome to shield themselves from the outside world, meaning the troubles of the outside world is of no concern to them; but not Thanos, he sought for only one thing, and that is balance to the entire universe. That is enough reason for me to make him the hero in that movie.

The movie was great as a whole but the plot was too fast paced( Though I understand why)
Things I Didn't Like

- Not properly using and easily killing off the black order a.k.a children of Thanos especially Ebony Maw

- Starlord ( enough said)
- Not showing us how Thanos attacked the Novas corp to get the Power Stone
- Thanos Motivations ,,I preferred the story arc of the comics, him carrying out the mass genocide to impress Lady Death not this Population control shenanigans
- Hawkeye and Antman not being involved
- Some CGI sequences fell off
- The Writers making The Hulk a wimp

Things I Liked
- The CGI of Thanos, was well captured
- Dr Strange battle with Thanos in Titan ( it glorified the comics)
- Thanos - Gamora arc
- Ebony Maw ( Hear Me and Rejoice ,you are about to die at the hands of the children of Thanos, lol)
- The funny One liners ( eg where is gamora, I'll do one better Who is Gamora, I'll do one better Why is Gamora,, Drax is crazy grin )
- Seeing Red Skull
- Thor's arc
- A villain in the MCU actually winning in the end,,,

And so many more

In all it was a nice experience, it could have been better but it was still a worthy cinematic experience. Now they are gonna make us wait a whole year to see the conclusion, sad

Permit me to disagree on the bolded. Thanos didn't get any permanent fix , funny when Dr Strange asked him " After the mass genocide, what next" ,
Thanos replied " I'll finally rest and watch the sunrise"

,,that's nonsense being that with this misguided principle Thanos can never and will never rest being that on his own twisted mind he has successfully trimmed the universe like a weed,,but that's the thing, the weed always grows back,, the population would definitely accumulate back, so please don't call it a Permanent fix it is a Temporary and Narcissistic fix at best.

And we all saw the toll he took on him to wipe half the universe,,with the Gauntlet melting in his hands,,now tell me how would he continue 'Trimming' the universe if the gauntlet eventually takes too much toll on him? He wouldn't and so everything he thrived for would fail,,wasting innocent souls in the process.

But if he resulted in crafting infinite resources for the universe as a whole ,that could be a more permanent fix approach -- key word Infinite . And the mad titan can finally rest, why didn't he just do that is mind boggling.

It was only in the first Avengers movie they did him right, how they went downhill from there is surprising.

And I still don't get the whole thing with Universal, I mean I think universal and Disney are both sharing the hulk rights, but why can't they let Disney MCU make standalone hulk movies ? Hulk can only be done true justice in his own Standalone movie not all these team up movies in which they keep on powering him down.

universal studios owns the distribution rights of the hulk, which means if marvel makes another hulk film, universal gets to distribute and market the movie which does not really go well with disney
