I'm not an atheist, so have that in mind. I'm just a conscious individual trying to find reasons behind every claim.

The Bible was written thousands of years ago and at that time, little was known about the universe.



Matthew 24:29

"Immediately after the distress of those days "'the sun will be darkened, and the moon will not give its light; the stars will fall from the sky, and rthe heavenly bodies will be shaken.'

This verse talks about the end of days. But come to think of it,

It's very clear that the writers of the bible do NOT know what the stars are. They thought the stars were just tiny dots in the sky. The stated in many places that the stars will fall into the earth.

Example :

Rev 6:13 - And the stars of heaven fell unto the earth, even as a fig tree casteth her untimely figs, when she is shaken of a mighty wind.

Rev 6:15 - And the kings of the earth, and the great men, and the rich men, and the chief captains, and the mighty men, and every bondman, and every free man, hid themselves in the dens and in the rocks of the mountains;

Here in Revelations it's talks about the stars of the heaven falling into the earth and people going around to hide. How can stars fall into the earth and people will go out and be hiding? Stars ooo, all of which are many many thousand of times bigger than the earth .

Here again he says:

Rev 12:4 - And his tail drew the third of the stars of heaven, and did cast them to the earth: and the dragon stood before the woman which was ready to be delivered, for to devour her child as soon as it was born.


A third of the stars being thrown into the earth abi? Interesting mythology.

Imagine you were alive about 2000 years ago and was a writer. If you wanted to write a book about how the world you are in came to be, you would have to use your skill of observation.

Now most reasonable science started about 500 years ago and obviously you wouldn't have access to it because you existed in different times. Now see how you will start "in the beginning God made the heavens and the earth". You wouldn't talk about the other eight planet because they haven't been discovered right? If they had been discovered you would write about them isn't it? You can only write about what was thought to be true during the time you existed and nothing more.

So why won't you say stars fell from the sky, I mean when you look up 2000 years ago, those stars would definitely look like they look today - small and probably could fall. So why don't you just put that down and hope we don't discover the telescope.

How do you think the ancients interpreted meteorites and fireballs. They are obviously glowing balls like the one which fell in Russia recently. By the Spirit of God, these men were also clearly able to describe a nuclear attack against the enemies of Israel but they could only describe it not knowing what it really is.

Look very well at Revelation 12:4. Do you think that verse is literal?. A dragon literally waiting for a single woman to give birth?.

How do we address top artists?. Don't we call them stars?. What about angels, do you know they also are called stars?. Do you know that Jesus Christ referred to Himself as the bright and morning star?. So, what if the stars talked about are actually angels because they shine like stars?. Don't you see here that the dragon is Satan and the stars are fallen angels. And the bible tells us that one third of them fell?.

But in the end, both the Sun and the stars will withdraw/stop shinning. Will they die and explode at supernova to create massive quantity of meteorites?, I can't tell. The only visible light in space amidst the shakens will be fire balls/meteorites falling to the earth. But God promised also to destroy/roll away the current cosmic system and create new ones.

When reading the scriptures, I think we need the Holy Spirit to open our eyes to differentiate between literal and non literal text.

Wikipedia says shooting stars was as a result of the fact that the ancients thought the stars were falling, they didn't know what they were, it is now that we know that shooting stars has nothing to do with stars but simply based on the fact that people were ignorant and still forms part of our vocabulary and expression.
No matter how the event is yet to come the stars will never and can never fall into the earth. The writers of the bible do not know what the stars are. They've written so many times about the stars falling into the earth. Even Daniel saw a vision of a Goat whose horns grew very high up into the skies that it went up and pull a star and it came crashing into the earth and the goat then trampled on the star that fell down. Even though it was a vision but it gives you an idea of what the stars were to them.

Now you are throwing the translation excuse at me. So your God does not know how to guide people to translate his alleged words correctly abi? You are telling lies.

The Greek words for comet is κομήτης
komítis while the original Greek word for star is αστέρι
astéri.

Revitionist talk. If the writers of the bible do not know what they were saying as you've stated then why do you believe anything they've written? So your God could not make people write clearly in such a way that people will read and understand clearly abi? Do you know the implication of that?

Once a supernova happens there won't be any earth to witness any meteorites falling into it anywhere. So you are wrong. If we go by what science says the earth will be no more long before a supernova occurs because the sun would have fried/swallowed the earth as it becomes a gas giant.

Is it possible that the language used by the prophets was a poetic idiom to make reference to humans or socio-economic realms?
if humans are also called in the bible "stars", is it possible that falling stars could be a reference to destruction of national governments?

It is a poetic saying. Stars were used for navigation in the olden days and their absence (cloudy days) get travelers stuck. In this same vein, stars of Heaven falling simply means the People with right guidance in spiritual matters will diminish as such, people will lose their ways, be mis-informed. It is one of the sign of the approaching Judgement of God and if you like end time. Our Planet can not take a hit from the smallest of stars not to talk of numberless stars falling on us. Capiche?

God is not the author of confusion, and so would not confuse anybody. He relates with man according to man's understanding but He is not subject to man's understanding.

I will continue to maintain that Jesus is risen and did so with a glorified body. If you like argue it from now till tomorrow, that's your choice. As for me and all true believers, those scars are our victory and because he has those scars, we won't have any. He has taken our place. When the work of grace is done, He will put it away.

Jesus did NOT send you to tell me anything. You only subscribe to a religious belief whose teaching tells you that Jesus told you that tell people things. You've never seen Jesus ad you don't wen known how he looks like, he has never personally solenoid to you about anything. He did not send you. Other men told you that and you believed without any evidence. You are only gullible and deluded like Muslims, Hindu gurus etc that always want to spread their religious message around.

If Jesus loves me you will NOT be telling me. According to the tale Jesus knows me more than I know myself and he knows that you will never be able to convince me, if Jesus is alive and everything about him is true as you claim then you won't be telling me that he loves me or has anything to tell me, he'll do it himself in the best way that will convince me. Slavery in Islam simply means total submission to Allah's will. Since he is your creator he knows what is best for you and he demands that you submit totally to his will. Nothing like bondage there.
